Welcome to the All Things Fall Autumn Challenge

Duration - September 23rd through December 21st, 2011

This is the Fall Autumn version of our Reading Through the Seasons Challenge. As always, you decide how to make it work for you.

Some examples:

**A character’s name is Fall Autumn
**Fall Autumn celebrations such as Halloween and Thanksgiving.
**Books published in September, October, November and December count, as well as books in which a character or author is named September, October, November and December.
**Books with fall Autumn related words in the title such as chill, cold, ice, leaves, etc…
**Books with fall Autumny images on the cover.
**Books that make you want to bundle up and read!
*****Most importantly, if you can tie it to Autumn, it works!*****

Special note – Since the name of this challenge has been changed from “Fall” to “Autumn” in honor of our very own lovely Miss Autumn who regularly participates in these challenges, any books she recommends, or reads, or has read, or mentions… those can count too!

Please!!! When you post your stats updates, do it like this: x/12 or "3 down..." etc., because this way it’s much easier for me to keep track of. I’m getting older, dontchaknow!

Feel free to list your books at any time, and change them or alter your challenge right up through December 21st.

The only restriction to this challenge is that books can only count if they were started on or after September 23rd and must be finished on or before December 21st.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Thanks for letting me know, Alycia. GR glitched while I was creating the thread, so that must be why it was duplicated. The weird thing is that when I did a test run in my private group where I test things, the title showed the way I wanted it to without the coding and everything. Oh well, I changed it.

Danielle's WLLK All Things Autumn Challenge 2011
Duration: September 23-December 21, 2011
Goal: Read 20 or more books with aspects that relate in any way to the season of autumn, including words in the title, taking place in autumn, or character names. Even if the color suggests autumn, or they involve autumnal events.
Update:
Completed: X/20

message 17: by Robin (new)

Robin | 361 comments @Gaynell - I have the same problem although since it is my firm belief that one can never have too many books its not really a problem. As to being addicted to books, I'd say that's a healthy addiction.

@Dhes - I like your theme idea for Gaynell if I happen to read one where *gasp* nobody Falls in Love I can use this as backup, "This one counts because it fell off my shelf and screamed you'll love reading me" lol

I always have the best intentions to but don't either. Unless I really have been waiting a long time or its part of a series I'm following, but yeah, not often at release date. I usually find something else that needs to be read. hehe.

message 28: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Yup. Same here. The bookclub scenario helps, but I feel better about my massive book collection and buying if I read my older books first. It's almost as if I am accomplishing something. :)

Robin | 361 comments Lady Danielle "The Book Huntress" wrote: "I think most cinema adaptations of books are poor, but tv adaptations...even worse, usually."

If you ever read Ben Hur you'll never watch the movie again because it will annoy you to no end what they've left out. It did\does me anyway. Although there are a lot of Movie and TV Shows where the book is better there are a few that stick to the book amazingly well. I think its only in the Director's Cut but Lord of The Rings has a scene with Bilbo's Trolls.

Robin | 361 comments Alycia wrote: "Oh! I watch movies first so I won't be disappointed then if I liked the movie, I'll read the book because most of the time, the books are better."

I'm the opposite if possible I like to read the book first. I totally agree the books are as a rule better. Even with Computer Graphics and Animation you can still put so much more into a book. I think one problem with movie versions is a lot of times the characters don't "look right".

Welcome Ellen, the best advice I have is don't stress. Read what interests you and if you can't find a way to fit it in just ask and someone will find one.

I agree.. it also bothers me when covers don't match character descriptions. Ex. a blond on the cover and the heroine is really a redhead. I just don't get it

Ellen,
So glad you are joining. I'd suggest only doing a couple of books like 5 so you won't stress or deciding to read a couple of books each month, ex. this is a 3 month challenge, decide to read 3 books each month that would count, so you would end up with a total of 9 books.

As for making books fit, you could always state that if you read it during fall, the book counts towards this challenge. I'm reading books this fall from my tbr pile, so if they are shelved they count. I'm reading a total of 15. Also, you could set your challenge up as books published in Sept-Dec would count, or books that take place in fall or covers that remind you of fall.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Hi Ellen!!

I'm so, so glad you've decided to join us! As Robin said, read what you want to read and if you can't figure a way to make it work, let us know and we'll figure it out for you. These challenges are so, so, so easy!

Let's say you have a book you want to read and the cover is green. Well, green is an autumn color, so that book counts.

Give us some ideas of what you're interested in reading and we'll show you just how simple it is to make them fit :)

message 49: by Ellen W-S (new)

Ellen W-S | 21 comments Ok I feel better now. Thanks ladies...no stressing, I can do that and I just rrealized that the book I am reading nowForever AmberKind of fits the challenge as amber is a "autumn"ish color.that's a sign huh? ...yes I'll join you all. Will get my list together...just post it in beginning or at the end ?

message 50: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Yes, exactly! Amber is kind of yellow/gold, and that's definitely an Autumnesque color!
