Malika Bourne (goodreaaaaaadscommalika_bourne) | 26 comments Hi Vivian. I have 3 grown children and 6 grandkids 7months, 6yrs, 11yrs, 11 yrears, 14, and almost 17.
I have always read to all of them provided they were living close by. A few learned to read before KG. My son's and my favorite book to re-read was the Tales of the fourth Grade Nothing. It is must now for aeveryone, I insist. Judy Blume books are wonderful. ofcourse Dr Sues is always there.
I still read aloud Silverstien's where the sidewalk Ends. Maybe we should add poetry to the list. We use our local library alot.

Malika Bourne (goodreaaaaaadscommalika_bourne) | 26 comments I find it intersting that the kids are still reading Nancy drew. I had read them all until my sister said,"My teeachers says thta you can't just read one genre. You Should read different things." I read read what ever was on the libraies shelves. My grand daughter, Tay is the same way. She iw 11 and reads above her grade level, but she still enjoys reading the easy books.

Malika Bourne (goodreaaaaaadscommalika_bourne) | 26 comments Louisa May Alcot book like Little Women, I believe a tween should read over the holidays. Since I have sons-in-law that deploy, I think that the fater in Little Women being in the civil War is relevant to the fmailies left behind today.

Michelle Isenhoff (michelleisenhoff) Hi everyone, I'm Michelle. My oldest is a tween, I've taught tweens at school, and I've written several books for tweens. (They're on my profile page.) I've never outgrown children's lit myself - particularly middle grade novels. They're fun, imaginative, well-packaged stories. I'm quick to pick them up.

I've had lots of contact with Tim, my fellow author, but I have to say a big hello to Vivian. It's nice to finally meet you (kind of)! :) Hello also to Andrea and Malika!

message 14: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Davis | 120 comments Thanks for introducing yourself, Michelle. Vivian gave a big smile, and says "hello" back.

Malika Bourne (goodreaaaaaadscommalika_bourne) | 26 comments Tim, the post I did "Parents, do You Know what Your TWeens is reading?" has gotten the most hits ever of any blog. Last I checked today I had over 90 hits. Not all to that one, buy WOW that is big time for me. I have arequest to help support that blog post. If you all could go and comment in the comment section with some name of your books even, that would be great to keep it going. Hopefully we'll get more members here. Michelle Isenhoff (michelleisenhoff) Malika, I tried to post again to your blog a couple times, but it didn't look like it went through. I hope it doesn't show five times now. :)

The link I left on there is correct. If it doesn't go through the first time, try the refresh button.

I'll try to comment again later. Maybe my connection is acting up right now or something.

Thanks Tim,
I posted my books Anabar's Run and Anabar Rises in the group's action/adventure folder. I would happy to send free .PDFs of both books to any group members here.
Also, I would love it if any of you would visit my blog at http://anabarseries.blogspot.com/
I created it to be a fun, safe place for tweens to learn more about my books.

Thanks again,
Will

Hi will. Thanks for asking. There is no way that we have found to link to a review. When you click "edit" on the right side, a window pops up with a block for a review. Copy and paste your own review into that box. You're welcome to cut and paste someone else's review, but you'll have to get their permission first, credit them at the beginning, and put quotes around their review. It seems that a person can't put "star" ratings on their own book, so just tell me how may stars you want, and I will enter them. Hope this helps, but feel free to ask more questions. Thanks, Tim

Welcome Christine. Thanks for joining! You've joined a forming group that is only about 35% operational. So please be patient. We've added less than half the books we intend to add. In the meantime, would you like some suggestions for your 10 and 12 year olds?

Leslie (lesslie) Hello, I'm Leslie. I have a 9 year old boy named Thomas. We are book lovers.

message 47: by Erik (new)

Erik This Kid Reviews Books (ThisKidReviewsBooks) | 32 comments Hi Leslie! I am Erik and I am ten years old. I would like to know what type of books Thomas likes to read! I especially like historical fiction and fantasy/adventure books!

message 48: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Davis | 120 comments Hi Leslie. Welcome to the group! :D Has Thomas read The Lightning Thief? I ask for two reasons. First, Erik suggested The Lightning Thief as a book for group discussion. Second, the Percy Jackson series is a great favorite among 9 to 12-year-olds. I loved the series. Please feel free to ask any questions about the series, so you can decide whether it's right for Thomas. Otherwise, feel free to tell us the kinds of books that Thomas likes, and we will try to come up with some recommendations. By the way, we invite Thomas to join the group if he wishes. Welcome again!

message 49: by Rahma (new)

Rahma Krambo (rahmakrambo) | 2 comments Hi everyone: I'm very happy to find this group. My kids are grown, but I have a tween granddaughter who's a voracious reader. I've been checking out the bookshelf which is an amazing collection and am looking forward to recommending some new books to her.

I hope you don't mind me introducing my book here. A blend of magical realism and historical fantasy, Guardian Cats and the Lost Books of Alexandria is a book about power, seen through the eyes of cats.

I wrote it for this age group (9-12) but many of my readers so far have been adults. Hope I haven't overstepped the bounds of author promotion, but I really want to learn more about what tweens like to read and this group looked like a good place to be.

message 50: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Davis | 120 comments Welcome to the group, Rahma! We're looking forward to getting some recommendations from you and your tween granddaughter! Thanks for your compliments on the library, but we aren't half done yet. Meanwhile, congratulations on your own books and feel free to put them in our library. Again, thanks for joining! :D
