Hi everyone. Hate this self-promotion stuff but I suppose it has to be done. So here you go, just the facts and if anyone wants to ask any questions feel free. And if anyone wants a free copy (especially reviewers) do get in touch.

"In the west the ancient empire of Prast crumbles, an old man too sick to climb out of his deathbed. In the east an upstart nation of sun worshipers spread their heathen ways, swallowing up city-states and small kingdoms as they tread ever closer to Prast’s borders. War is inevitable. A war greater and more bloodthirsty than any seen since the old gods left the world.

And yet, war is as nothing compared to the greatest danger.

The Shadowland.

A vast swathe of corrupted jungles, deserts and mountains, saturated in malevolence. Ever since the time of myth it has separated east from west, a mark on the world to remind all mankind of the anger of their gods. Now it has begun to spread, spewing out its deadly creatures on the nations, threatening to corrupt and consume everything.

Only one man carries the key to stopping the Shadowland’s progress. A man battered and scarred from his years alone in its deadly grasp. To stop it he must first make a friend of his greatest enemy…

…and then he must enter the Shadowland again…"

I'm guessing from the description and cover that this would count as dark fantasy?

Sounds like an interesting book I'll check out a sample and let you know if I want to give it a review.

Simon Stone (goodreadssimonstone) | 33 comments Thanks Scott. Never been great at classifying books' sub-genres but it is pretty dark, or at least realistic(as much as a fantasy can be!), with flawed, conflicted protagonists.

Simon -

How long is your book? Is there a lot of blood & guts? Sorry to be nosy. I'm not a dark fantasy guy and was just curious about your book.

Guess I could get off my a$$ and download the sample to take a look. :)

Simon Stone (goodreadssimonstone) | 33 comments Haha... No not all that much, and I'm not into pointless gore and detailed macabre descriptions of it just for the shock value. The opening sample has some of the worst of it so if you can get past that you'll be fine.

Simon Stone (goodreadssimonstone) | 33 comments Hi, thought I'd just add that my novel is now available as a first edition trade paperback. If anyone wants a signed copy please get in touch, otherwise here's the link to the print edition:

Little bit more about the book: It's a dark fantasy with no elves, dragons or wizards, no knights, chainmail or heroes. What it does have is a traumatised, violent main character, a possessed female, a one-armed con-man, some gladiators, a decadent empire loosely based on Rome, a deadly killer race of genetic misfits who can't hurt humans and are enslaved by them... oh, and a nightmarish realm of evil full of really nasty creatures and other unspeakable things.

Feel free to check out the samples. There's a discount code on my website if you want to buy the ebook version.
