I love these books..but there's 1 detail i can't get out of my head :S...

The part in Insurgent when Peter saves Tris from being lethally injected. She instead is only severely paralysed, but 'appears' to be dead allowing them to escape. Peter later explains to her and Tobias that he switched the lethal injection with "dyed water". (what?.. only dyed water??) I am wondering then, how did Tris actually come to be paralysed? did i miss something, or was this detail omitted?
