Ruth Madison (ruthmadison) | 20 comments Thanks so much for this opportunity to share some information about my writing! I have two books out now and a third coming in January.

The novels are about an unusual sexuality. With my fiction I seek to help people understand a different life experience.

(W)hole
A girl haunted by a secret attraction to disability meets a paraplegic surfer trying to put his past behind him. Will Elizabeth and Stewart learn to accept the broken parts in themselves and each other? Will they be able to re-define what it means to be whole or will fear and guilt drive them apart?

Dev Dreams (Vol. One)
A collection of short stories such as Em’s story of having to choose between the man her mother wants her to marry and the man who makes her feel alive.

Breath(e) [available in January]
In the sequel to (W)hole, Elizabeth begins dating Ethan, a charmingly geeky young man with cerebral palsy. But a confession to the wrong friend leads to vicious rumors that Elizabeth sexually preys on the mentally disabled.

Praise for (W)hole
(W)hole is a stunningly accurate and very moving look into the psychology of devotees, or people with a sexual attraction to disabilities. Yes, it is a love story, but more than that, it shows how hard it is for young women to come to terms with an unusual sexual identity.-DevoGirl

“What a fantastic writer you are. You had me hooked by the end of the second paragraph...I've never been able to identify so completely with a female character until now. The way you describe the conflicted emotion and the desperation of Elizabeth is SO familiar to me...” -S.D., a male reader

“I would highly suggest this book to both devotees and non-devs that are curious, because it paints us in a "normal" light while being completely honest about the devotee mindset. On top of that, the novel is very well written, including captivating imagery and realistic dialogue.” - C. a female reader

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments Home Country was cute. A nice peek into Indian wedding customs. You might want to fix some of those typos though...

Ruth Madison (ruthmadison) | 20 comments I'm glad you read it! Thank you. I haven't really been back to look at it and I didn't realize there were typos. Very sorry about that! I'll go in and look at editing it. :D

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments No worries. It's too easy to get caught up in the story and when you're the one writing it...ya just get too familiar with it.

Ruth Madison (ruthmadison) | 20 comments True. And since I was putting it up for free I didn't take as much care with it as I should have!

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments naughty, naughty...

Ruth Madison (ruthmadison) | 20 comments Would you be willing to send me a message with the typos that you caught? It would be really helpful. As you say, it's hard to see them objectively when you've been deep in the story.

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments Well, actually, editing is something I do for a living...

Ruth Madison (ruthmadison) | 20 comments Oh really? Very cool. Well I won't ask for free service. I haven't had a chance to take a look yet, but I'm really shocked that there are errors!

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments I recommend consciously starting to look at the text as though it's not you, the author, reading it. Pretend you are one of your readers. I find that helps me.

Ruth Madison (ruthmadison) | 20 comments That's a good idea. And printing it out tends to help too, helps me to see it in a new way.

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 100 comments Oh yeah, anytime you see it in a format that's different from how you wrote it makes a big difference. Even my blogs look different when I preview them as opposed to typing them in word! How weird is that??!
