Ah, the SSME. I had a dear friend who worked at Rocketdyne during the design/test phase. When I asked him how they tested for flaws, he said, "We run 'em until the explode then look at the pieces." Makes sense now that I know so much more about the Apollo F1/J2 design years, but then it was a fun revelation. *BOOM*!

And I assume that everyone here has heard the von Braun "Greasy Rag" story?
