The platform rises and the light grows dimmer and dimmer. Finally, the platform stops. You're in complete darkness. The gamemaker's voice announces the time:

"Five"

"Four"

"Three"

"Two"

"One"

Suddenly, a bright light turns on. You find yourself in a circe with the other Tributes around the sole cornucopia. Your eyes are stunned by the sudden bright light. The buzzer sounds and the countdown is over.

You're in a maze, an underground labrynth. The only source of light is the brightly lit cornucopia. The farther away you go, the more darker it gets.

Many monsters roam the Arena. One monster in particular should be feared: The Minotaur. The gamemakers have programmed him with an undying hatred of any godling, or mortal with the god's scent. He is invicible. He cannot die. He cannot be reprogramed. He cannot be destroyed or taken apart. Each part broken in battle is repaired soon after. He is invincible.

((The Arena is shown in post 58 of http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...

However, the walls will move occasionally ))

EDIT: The only source of food are the animals that roam the place and the occasional green thing that grows. The Arena his heated by the Cornucopia's light. But there is no wood.

Sarah | 703 comments Aisha gasped as she looked around. "A maze," she whispered to herself. She shuddered slightly as she heard a roar in the distance and she eyed the cornucopia carefully. The gong rang out and she sprinted forward towards the cornucopia, grabbing a backpack and a knife. She desperately looked around for Tassadar.

message 3: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (oerose) | 242 comments As the buzzer rang, Tempest ran like the lightning bolt he was to the cornucopia. He grabbed a sword and a striped neon bag that looked something like a briefcase and scurried into a dark corner, a gash from the knife of a tribute stinging his arm and the endless night taking all of the air from his lungs.

Kai looked around frantically, fear flashing in his one eye. He grabbed an insanely heavy bag and stumbled into a corner. It would have been funny if the circumstances were different.

message 4: by Ingrid (last edited Nov 19, 2011 01:55PM) (new)

Ingrid Charis took off running as fast as he could. He didn't have time to grab anything more than a bow and a pack before he ran into another part of the maze, most likely a dead end, but that was okay.
If he had his back to a wall of the maze, he would be able to defend it and the darkness helped with hiding.

message 5: by Quemares (new)

Quemares Tassadar ran at the cornucopia. He took two backpack put them on his back and ran into Aisha. "Come on" He said grabbing her hand, and ran into a hallway. As soon as it was dark enough so that he couldn't see an inch in front of him, he moved toward the closest wall, sat down and summoned a tiny mini sun, that gave off enough light to see Aisha's face.

Dei wasted no time in hopping off that filthy platform and running to the cornucopia. Without any hesitation, she grabbed a small bag about the same length as her forearm and the height of one hand span. It was essentially a purse. Once she lifted it, she knew exactly what was in it. It was all she needed. She left the cornucopia and headed off to the darkest tunnel. Monsters, she could possibly deal with. Demigods weren’t at all comfortable for her.

Jase’s eyes hurt terribly from the sudden change in lighting. He sent a mental word of hatred towards the gamemakers as he ran away from the cornucopia. He didn’t need anything, and would have rather stayed way from the bloodshed. But he knew that to survive, he’d need something. He grabbed a small bag at the edge of the circle around the cornucopia, and ran. As he ran, he transformed himself into a small rodent, a rat. He relaxed and hid in a corner, waiting for Viola to appear.

Aisha smiled. "Knew that would come in handy," she said, hastily opening the backpack she had grabbed. "Blanket, torch, and another knife. Awesome. Hey, careful you don't tire yourself out," she said, nodding her head at the mini sun.

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine sprinted off her plate, grabbing a bow and a sling full of arrows. She ran off, looking around wildly. "SIER!", she yelled, dodging a tribute's attack with grace, tumbling to the ground and getting back up. Her eyes fell upon Aisha and Tassadar. She ran over hesitantly. "Friend or foe?" she asked them.

Jena didn't wait after that gong sounded. She ran, grabbed a random bag with hopes for the best, as well as a dagger, and without slowing ran straight into the maze. She turned left, right, right, left, and stopped at a dead end. She sighed and sat down, going through what she'd collected in the minimal time she had.

Sier grabbed a pack that was of medium size and slightly beat up, and spotted Aisha, Tassadar, and Raspine. He ran to them just in time to hear Ras' question. "Friend. Now let's get out of here."

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine turned and smiled at Sier. "Got it. This way?" She pointed to a corridor behind the cornucopia, away from a roaring she heard in the distance.

Aisha nodded. "Sounds good, a pack of four. Let's go that way." She slung her bag over her shoulders and held her knife out, running.

Sier shook his head as Aisha started running. He looked back at the hall he'd just come from. "I didn't get any weapons." He pointed out. "I won't do you much good if I can't fight." He said. He smiled down at Raspine and leaned down to kiss her cheek. In the light of the arena, his bruise covering his eye was darker and more visible. He draped the pack over his shoulder and winked at her. "Follow them. I'll catch up." He promised, then ran off back where he'd come from.

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine sighed. "Be safe," she said to herself. She thought about the bruise on his eye and her fists clenched out of anger towards his mentor. She ran after Aisha, following her down the hall.

Sier stayed at the edge of the maze, looking at the cornucopia. He had to be able to find a sword or two in there. He nodded to himself, made sure that the backpack was tight on him, then ran. He searched the golden sculpture and managed to find two swords, but it cost him time, and they weren't evenly balanced. He cursed his luck and went back into the maze. He turned- and found a wall. But this path was clear, I remember. He shook his head in confusion and continued with the turn, trying to go the direction of the original path whenever he could.

Dei ran through the darkness. No worries, she wasn't too scared. The sun was in her heart, she didn't need a real sun. Without realizing it, as she ran, the light grew stronger and she ran to a guy. Sier.

She scowled, "Where'd you come from?!"

Sier chuckled as he looked at her. "Same place as everyone... well, maybe except a child of Athena, since they're not born properly." He noted. "Do we have to fight, or can I continue?" He asked.

Dei glared at him, "You are just disgusting. No. I won't fight you yet. But I'm watching out for Raspine. She needs it, and you haven't exactly been nice to her."

Dei brushed past him and left through the other side, the one that had been closed just moments ago

message 28: by Sarah (last edited Nov 21, 2011 06:37PM) (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine waited. And waited. And waited. Her heart was pounding and she ran back towards the cornucopia, ignoring Aisha and Tassadar. "Sier!", she yelled, watching him talk to Dei as the wall opened up. She dodged a few tributes and stood next to them anxiously, bobbing up and down on her toes. "Hi Dei," she said quickly. "Look, can we go? Sorry to be rude and stuff but..." She pointed to the tributes at the cornucopia that were starting to disperse. "Let's get a move on."

Viola sprinted towards the cornucopia right after the gong sounded. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Jase running to the left tunnel. She picked up a large black bag and hung it over her shoulder before sprinting towards the tunnel he disappeared into. To her right, she heard a faint zipping sound and she jumped left and landed on the floor in a summersault as the knife zoomed past. She got back up and turned the corner of the tunnel before leaning against the wall to catch her breath.

Storm [Give Me Therapy] wrote: "Storm looked around for Alexia. "Alexia!" he called taking off and grabbing a few back packs."

The gong sounded as silent tears streamed down Alexia's face. The only positive part of being in the Hunger Games was being outside surrounded by nature. She sucked it up and started running to the cornucopia. Unfortunately she had lost a few seconds when the gong sounded and a lot of items were taken. She saw a small sword and she picked it up when she heard Storm say her name. She turned to him and got up running. As she got up she fell back to the floor as a tribute slammed into her.

((if anyone wnts to rp the tribute be my guest))

message 31: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine swore as Alexia ran into her. "Watch it," she muttered. "That'd normally get you killed." She stuck her hand out to the tribute who she noticed was crying. "Just this once," she said coldly.

"Aisha" He said. "We should go farther away from the Cornucopia. Monsters, I can deal with. Other demigods is going to be a little bit harder." He looked at a dark hallway. "After we get a safe place, we can go looking for our allies"

message 33: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid The sounds of yelling and running put Charis on edge. It was only momentarily before someone came running into his little corner he wasn't sure if he could win in a man to man, face to face, eye to eye fight. He could do well from a distance; picking them off and using the element of surprise.
No Charis told himself sternly. Do not let yourself get all freaked out. It's only just begun and you have people to return home to.

message 34: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Aisha nodded and bravely walked ahead. She heard a low growl and she jumped slightly. She twirled her knife anxiously in her hand and kept walking until they came up to a fork in the path. She heard a shriek from the left and the growl was coming from the right. She looked at Tassadar expectantly. "Which way?"

message 35: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (oerose) | 242 comments Kai ran for about a quarter mile in the maze, then sat down and decided to take a look inside his pack. As he peered in, all he saw was coal. He swore. Then... "COAL!" he whispered excitedly. He had noticed that the farther from the arena he got, the colder it was getting. The coal, along with the ability to start a fire, could amount to him staying far away from the bloodshed of everyone who DIDN'T have coal for maybe two nights, if needed. But he didn't have fire... sighing, he moved the coal around a little and found one other surprise- a celestial bronze knife. Definitely not his favorite weapon, but it would do.

((Anyone want to ally with him?))

Storm [Heaven Above You, There's Hell Over Me]] (StormBloodBlade) | 134 comments Storm stopped and ran too Alexia seeing her fall. He summoned his swords and got into a defensive position between her and the tribute.

message 37: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (oerose) | 242 comments Tempest slinked away from the battle, not wanting to draw any attention to himself at all. He opened his rainbow briefcase and looked inside. He found some sort of jackpot- a knife, ambrosia, and a small heat-reflective blanket. "Awesome!" he said quietly. The only problems were camouflage and transportation- the bag itself was the worst.

message 38: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine raised an eyebrow at Storm. "I was helping her up, you a**hole."

message 39: by Ingrid (last edited Nov 20, 2011 10:23AM) (new)

Ingrid ((Olivia! My character will ally with him!))

Charis finished giving himself a pep talk and then he heard the sound of someone nearby. Charis crept forward, straining his eyes against the darkness. Who was there?
He heard a whispered, "Coal!"

"Let's see" He said. He flicked a mini sun to both sides. To the right he could see a hellhound and to the right, he saw a snake-like figure. "I'll take my chance with the hellhound" He said. He blew a note into his ocarina and it turned into a sword.

Jase followed Viola and transformed while her back was turned. Demigods could never deal with the fact that a mortal would be able to do something they'd never be able to.

"Hey," he said softly, grabbing her hand, "We have to go. Farther from here."

message 44: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Aisha nodded again. "Good idea." She walked ahead cautiously, looking for any traps. There were none as far as she could tell and she kept walking. She bit her lip as the hellhound bared it's fangs and she threw her knife into it's mouth, catching it where the mouth ends and the throat begins. It roared angrily and charged at her. She rolled to the side instantly.

((Just to clarify. Your tributes go into the arena without any weapons on them. No swords. Nothing that could possibly help them. All they have are the powers and talents they have what ever they get from the cornucopia))

message 47: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 703 comments Raspine smiled at her sadly, watching one of the few friends she'd made walk away. "You won't need it!", she yelled after her, shaking her head as she saw how Huntress-like she was in her walk. Brave, unflinching, yet cautious. "Artemis, you missed out," she muttered, notching an arrow in case a predator jumped out at her and Sier.

Storm [Heaven Above You, There's Hell Over Me]] (StormBloodBlade) | 134 comments "Wait." he said as they got to the edge of darkness. They could faintly see the cornicupia. "Let's check the back packs. They may have something good." he picked the two backpacks up. "we gt lucky thank the gods. A flashlight, a warm blanket, a ball of yarn? Matches, and.... A water bottle. Plus the sword you picked up."

message 49: by Quemares (new)

Quemares Tassadar charged at the hellhound and hit it with the flat side of the sword. The hellhound growled and charged at him. It jumped at him and then disintegrated. When it jumped it had opened its mouth. Tassadar had flicked a mini sun into its mouth, pushing Aisha's knife deeper into the hellhound throat. He picked up Aisha's knife, cleaned it with his shirt and gave it back to Aisha. "Let's keep going" He said.

Diabolical Daemonic (DemonicAngel) | 54 comments Silas shielded his eyes with a dark hand, an involuntary hiss escaping him as his eyes burned, shrinking to minuscule slits painfully. He stumbled, half-blind, from the platform and into the farther recesses of the labyrinth, one hand pressed against a stone wall to guide him in his near blindness, the delicate flesh of his cheekbones bubbling with the reflected half-light. His luck and his luck only would the blasted cornucopia be a ball of blazing light.

It would seem the Moirae were currently working against him, but weren't they always?

The claws of his toes clicked against the loose stonework, the bits of green plantlife briefly catching his eye before he surmised it to be a branch of Aconitum, monkshood, a particularly dangerous plant. He knelt down, fingering the purple blossoms, crushing them between his fingers. Not enough to poison anything, and he didn't even have the weapons to use it on.

A world weary sigh and he was walking again, the temperature dropping as he wound his way deeper and deeper, keeping to the left and only rarely taking the right turns, the sounds of combat still echoing in his ears this far away. He dimly wondered how many had already died, pathetic little heroes they were.

But he was one to talk, now wasn't he? Silas silently mused, he hadn't not a thing to eat or defend himself besides his natural born talents, and he he was fleeing like a little rat.

He paused as the the sound of scales on stone filtered through his keen ears, the tip of a snakes tail disappearing in front of him, rattling its fury.
