Christoffer | 10 comments Okay, i've just started to watch the old Star Wars movie again, and a thought suddenly occured to me.. The Inheritance Cycle and the Star Wars movies are extremely similar to eachother??? If you think about it... Brom is Obi-Wan Kenobi. Luke Skywalker is of course Eragon, Princess Leia is Arya, Glaedr and Oromis is Yoda, Somehow Darth Vader is part Murtagh, part Razaac, and The Emperor is Galbatorix. And so on!

Please comment if you can find more similarities. :D

Christoffer | 10 comments And of course the plot are the same too. ;)

And instead of Dragons and magic there is The Force and lightsabers?

Marx Leo | 66 comments haha, yeah I think that a lot of Sci-Fi books have similar-ish plots.. the wise old man, the young ignorant man, the beautiful mysterious princes type person..

I think its funny that you posted this because I was just watching that AVATAR movie and I felt like the plots were very similar to the inheritance cycle too.. I mean they have to make those bonds with the dragon things and they speak to them with their mind.. and ya know, there are a few similarities, but that movie is also extremely sci-fi..

I think I thought the movie and the inheritance cycle were similar just because I was reading all the books over again and I pretty much related everything in life to them.. So sad hahaha

Christoffer | 10 comments Haha, i know! Did pretty much the exact same thing?

Hahaa yeah! Avatar has the princess the dragons, and all that too! Nice! ;)

Heather (lem_usic_beckons) It's funny you should mention this because I know a lot of angry people who say Paolini stole from...Star Wars or the Harry Potter Series....something like that. That's the majority of the reason people won't read his books.

Marx Leo | 66 comments yeah, it's so stupid because so many sci-fi series have similar plots.. he may have incorporated ideas from other stories, but his own story is different and original in its own way!

Paige C No way! Eragon and The Inheritance Cycle are WAY better than Star Wars! It isn't even a book... I don't think.

Savannah Elahian | 2 comments Stereotypical characters are usually made to be relatable. We all know of the wise old man or the young foolish kid who grows up into a mature strong man. Those are the kinds of people we know of in books and in real life. Shakespeare emphasized his stereotypes to portray his characters, so they're understandable for a wide range audience. Because of this many books seem similar and characters are often parallels. And in sci fi the plot is always going to be somewhat the same: a protagonist starts of living a normal life until his world changes and he goes on a great journey to find his destiny. With villains, and secrets revealed, it all leads to somewhat similar ideas but in books. I think you could go on to say the super heroes are similar stories as well and even more recent dystopia books.
