I like how goodreads has this yearly challenge. It kind of pushes some to read more and to some it provide an opportunity to know how much they actually read. Are you going to make a challenge for your next yr? Have you decided on how much you are gonna read next yr? Have you completed your challenge for this yr?

Javed Hayat (javed_hayat) For the coming year, I would settle for 36 books for the year round, though I would be delighted to achieve 50, or get as close to it as possible.

Problematically, I do tend to read a fair number of books ranging from 800 to over a thousand pages. My bad.

And the least said about my last year effort the better. There was a period of 6 odd months when I cldnt read at all. Stuck with quite a few things. Thankfully its all over.

I spend more time in finding and deciding upon a book than in actually reading them. LOL. But I will go for at least a 30 this year. :-)

Can you guys share some tips for reading faster? I was wondering what could be the maximum reading speed. I mean I have seen people who can read a 150 pages (both sides) in one day. Can someone read faster than that?

message 16: by Famma (new)

Famma | 99 comments Well I can finish a book in a day if i don't have to think while reading, Also it depend on genre and mood.

That is cool. But how do you do that. They say it comes with time. But what if I want to read faster NOW?

message 18: by Famma (new)

Famma | 99 comments Well I keep book in my bag... in my phone or get ebook reader if you are interested in gadgets...keep a book in computer so read when you get chance. First of all which Genre are you interested in right now?

message 19: by Famma (new)

Famma | 99 comments Also readin 150 pages per day is not a big deal. May be you can do somethin other readers can't so Chill!!!

oh well. I am interested in every genre that makes sense and that connects me with life. But you are right I should just start carrying books in bag. I just attended this session when I was a kid where they taught us how to read faster, so I was wondering if those tips really work..

you are right Saad. I already have a lot of reading to do for my research project. And no I don't wear glasses thank God and I hope I never wear them. Its easier for me to read things on the internet, its like if a sentence has 10 words, I will make out whats written in it by just reading 5 words, you know what I mean. But this doesn't work with paperbacks.

I have taken the faster reading session too [part of my study course] but for me that works only when I wants to skim through things. Reading is different.
