How did you come across TID and why did you decide to read it? =)

I read CoB back in September of 2009 and when I went on Cassie's website I read that she was working on a new series set in the Victorian era and it got me all excited =)

Palak (umbrasumus) | 455 comments My friend got me into it!!! Then i read ahead of her, and sorta spoiled everything for her, but its not like she was refusing or anything..... so yeah!

message 3: by Alexa (new)

Alexa ok this might sound crzy but its true as soon as i read this line "It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world" i wanted the book mostly cuz jace sounded like a bad boy and hot i like both cuz i knew when there is a bad boy and a new girl there is romance.

Cheyenne (CheyenneYumi) | 15 comments I found CA on a bookshelf and decided that the story looks pretty good, so I got the book. I didn't think the book looked interesting sfter some time, until I actually began reading it. That's when I drowned in the story and kept reading to the end saying, "WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?! I DON'T WANT TO WAIT!" Now the series is my fav of every single thing I've read! :DDD

message 5: by Karen (new)

Karen Reid (3karen3) | 27 comments i saw the first book on the shelf and it looked interesting, so i read the back of it, and loved the story line... and now i cannot wait for each book to come out!... by far my favorite series and author :)

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

My librarian. I was skeptical about the name. I mean "The Mortal Instruments." I kept visualizing instruments dancing. I was still young, don't judge me.
I went to a store and saw them. I read the back and thought, "Wow, that's interesting." I bought it. It took me a while to get into the story. After 10 attempts and reading ahead, I began loving the story more and more (And Jace...) Now, I have read all of the books out and awaiting the new arrivals

Turns out, both series instantly topped my Favorite Books list. Seriously, Cassie's a genius for coming up with such books! CAN'T WAIT FOR CoLS TO BE SOLD AT THE BOOKSTORE!!! ^w^

message 15: by l (new)

l My friend kept talking about how amazing it was and was always fangirling etc. so I figured I just HAD to read this book she was always talking about! So earlier this year I read CA and CP and now I'm reading TMI (currently a quarter through City of Lost Souls). Now we fangirl together and annoy all our other friends xD

message 16: by Roo (new)

Roo | 5 comments I saw Clockwork Angel at Barnes and Noble and thought it would be a cool book. Once I started to read it I fell in love with the story plot and Will. I recommended it to all my friends and got them hooked too. TID is still my favorite series today.

message 17: by Harlin (new)

message 20: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (alexandra-the-fairy) | 7 comments I found TMI when the last book had just come out and after reading all five books I found TID. I didn't get to the books right away. it just sat on my shelf for a while but when I did read it I HAD to find the second book! the only reason I found either of the series was because of my sister seeing that Jace and Clary on the front cover of the fifth book for TMI looked like two characters I had in my own book!

message 21: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Lopez | 1 comments I know this may sound weird, but whenever I go to a bookstore I like to just randomly go down the shelf touching the book spines and I pick something at random. That is what happened with The Mortal Instrument books and I liked the covers and decided to buy the books. It now turns out to be my favorite series! Now i recommend the book to anyone that seems worthy of getting to know such awesome characters

message 22: by Jannah (new)

Jannah (lumpyspceprincess) | 17 comments I was just skimming threw the Barnes and Noble website looking for books to read, and I ran across Clockwork Angel. The cover looked really nice and the summary was very interesting so I decided to get it. BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE(book wise) The book was amazing than I found out that I was reading the prequel of the mortal instruments so that's how I came to the mortal instruments.

message 23: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (kristenreadsbooks) | 1 comments I was looking at the B&N website trying to find a new book to read, I saw CA and thought, "What a beautiful cover!" I starting reading the description and fell in love with it but I found out it was a prequel to TMI so I put it off for a while because CoB didn't sound as interesting and I wanted to read the books in the order she wrote them..(silly me). I finally got all of the TMI and TID books that where out at the time and now TID is my favorite book series. :)

message 24: by Aarnisha (new)

Aarnisha I have this friends that are obsessed with vampires and vampire stories, and so one day I asked them about a good series and they recommended TMI. I read them and so I found TID as well and I got hooked to both series'.

I had just got a kindle for christmas found the books and I've been reading them ever since!! I'm hooked!!!

message 26: by Anna (new)

Anna (annataylordicks) My grandma is the librarian at the high school in my town, so I have very easy access to new books. She's read most of the books in that library (it's not a small library) and whenever she finishes a good read, she gets it for me. This ,luckily, happened to be one of them. I absolutely love these books! Definitely one of my favorite series of all time. Can't wait for the next one to come out this year!!

Elisabeth V.L. | 15 comments This lady showed me the book, but the incest part was what caught me. I also got a suggestion from this kid in my class.

message 30: by Fei (new)

Fei (heapofashes) | 1 comments I got into the books back around 2008 when this girl in my class handed the book to me. Even then, I was a renowned book nerd and the girl practically shoved the book at me (in English class) and demanded I read this one part of CoB that she thought I'd crack up over. It was when Jace and Clary were together on Clary's b-day and Simon chanced upon them >.< I was a goner after that. As they say, the rest is history...

message 31: by Sarah (new)

Sarah My mam and dad bought me a present of City of Bones and City of Ashes. I just got hooked then.

message 36: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina (Nana210) | 3 comments Accidentally, I picked up the book at Costco ! I was not intended to buy it! The spoiler was really good but I already got 4 books in my hands that time... With my stubbornness, I bought that book and I didn't regret it ! It was awesome book with all my beloved character, especially William Herondale.

message 39: by Emily (new)

Emily (demonpoxologist20) I saw COB in a bookstore and it looked interesting so i added it and all of cassie's other books. When i was looking for COB at the library I found CA and remembered that i wanted to read it. Once I got it home i finished it in less than a week and was hooked forever!!

message 40: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 37 comments I saw the trailer for the movie. Thought it was interesting. I went shopping for another book and was on the fence about reading it. My best friend (who is not into fantasy novels) told me to buy it. A month and a half later I had read them all. Started with TMI and finished with TID. Now I'm reading TBC but I will read COB again this week before the movie comes out.

message 45: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 37 comments This is a great series whether you read TMI first or second. They don't spoil each other but there are things that transfer from one to the other. :D

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

It was summer, July concretely, and I was in Barcelona spending some days with my dad. I went to a mall with him and there I saw City of Bones, I was like "should I buy it or shouldn't I?" "what if I don't like it"?, but once I bought it and started reading it I realised that I LOVED it, and well, nowadays I'm waiting for TDA and TLH, I have already read TID and TMI, these books are my fave books and my life as well. I don't regret any of this, these books are one of the best things that's happened in my life by far!

message 47: by Maria (new)

Maria Rios | 2 comments I began too read the series when i was in the 7 grade but I stopped reading it because it was confusing. I read it again in the 8th grade and I fell in love with the story world. My friend/ librarian recommended the books to me and I fell in love with the characters, and just like Tessa my heart was split in two for Jem and Will.
