As you can see I haven't filled in the books yet but I'm doing that now.
It's rather quite simple.

Monthly themed (Read a certain amount of books with the name of the month in it)
A-Z (As a group, read a book for every letter of the alphabet!)
Seasonal themed (Christmas, Halloween, Easter etc etc)
One of the ones I find really hard but other people seem to really love is cover themes. For example on another group there was a beach challenge in which you had to read 3 books - one with a sand on the cover, one with water on the cover and another with something you'd find on a beach on the cover!

I've been meaning to read all the Terry Pratchett disc world books for the last 6 months and so far have got 4 books down the list, I need some motivation.

I know our Jud goes back and forth from her kindle to paper books. Maybe I should ship them to her and just download them...

I know our..."
I've missed these last few posts! It has been a while since I last read a paperback now, I do have a couple and tried to start one of them but was too absorbed in my TP challenge to get into them.
I've decided my new challenge for next year already as well.

Any suggestions on how you all want it set out? How long for a book? Do we want to do it chapter to chapter and discuss as we go? I want to really, REALLY delve into the books this time so I'm hoping to discuss all of it.
I'll be hosting it and remember to post etc etc (calenders - so helpful) so I'm not begging for help xD just suggestions!

I am thinking it might be nice to create our own little read-a-thons since a few of you enjoyed the one I just completed. We can agree on a date/length and we can have fun together.
Also it might be fun to do a themed reading week/10 days or some other length for holidays coming up. I know its really early but we could do a halloween version and maybe a christmas version too. I know I get very busy with University but I'm hoping to be more on-top of things this year and keep up a little better with my pleasure reading.
of course id be happy to start threads for all

Two of my favourite things in world are reading and lists and when put together they make me very happy.
This section is going to be for Challenges! It's a simple concept in which we combine reading with a simple non-competitive challenge for multiple reasons. (Although I suppose if you want, it can always be about how many curries one can eat in one month. We're not fussy here!)
Have you a load of books you bought and still need to read? Do you want to branch out into a new genre but don't want to do it alone? Do you like the colour green and want to do a themed month?
This is a very relaxed group here and as long as everyone is nice and follows the insanely simple guidelines I think we can all have a great laugh as normal.
I only ask two things! Just two!
1. When posting a new topic please ensure your title includes either 'Self Challenge' or 'Group Challenge', the name of your challenge and if you want you can add a set of dates.
(This bit might get a little confusing but the simple difference between Self and Group challenges is that a Self Challenge is generally personal to the poster of the topic, and while others can join in, the main reason for posting it is for yourself. Group challenges, however, are a way of diving into a new challenge all together.)
For example, my first challenge to myself, and anybody else who wants to join, will be to read all books that I have bought for my Kindle but have not read. In theory, by the end of 2012 I will have no bought books unread, and if there is any, they will have *just* been bought. The topic of my title will look like this;
"Self Challenge: Waste not, Want not - 2012"
2. Formatting the actual thread is sometimes a real pain, especially if it includes a lot of books. This ask is quite simple. If you are a posting a challenge, make sure to put something like 'Lets go' or similar at the end of your challenge (It might be an idea if you are using several posts to put it in a new post underneath). If you are observant enough to see a topic as it is just created, make sure you see that 'Lets go' before posting so you don't accidentally put your cheerleading post in the middle of a challenge.
Please note: it would be great if you could add some Amazon links to your threads when you read books - you don't have too but it helps the group if you use the group tag (&tag=ethings-21)
That is it really! I think this thread will be a great way to get suggestions for group challenges so suggest away (or volunteer to host them *wink wink*).
Any questions? I am sure there will be loads. I'm about to write my first Self-Challenge up which, for the sake of this post, will have multiple posts. I'll be back to link it!
Description is not my strong point (there is a reason I'm a reader not a writer...) so feel free to shout at me to change something!
