Abbie (weatherlover1) | 240 comments WOW!! I tried for 100 but only made it to 82. So this year I am hoping for 85. :) Good luck!

message 3: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Thanks! Good luck to you too! I figured since I managed 130 last year I could do it again this year. It is my last full year as a student though, I imagine when I get a full-time job I'll have less time to read. And then when I have little kids running around, even less! :P

message 4: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn Gunter | 29 comments So crazy...I thought I was a fast reader...I read 52! I am aiming for 60 this year. Course I joined 1/2 way through the year and took a month off of reading last year, so we'll see how far I get! I am excited to try new authors! :)

message 5: by Rachel (last edited Jan 10, 2012 02:13AM) (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Jocelyn, I have a lot of time to read as I'm a full-time student studying English so I have to read a lot for university, and I have massive holidays. And I need to read books for fun when I'm not studying in order to stay sane :) I don't want to be one of those people who graduate with a degree in English and hate books. Some of my friends on my course say that they can no longer read for fun! I embraced Christian romance novels last year and never looked back :)

Exams have clearly hit as the last book I managed to finish was Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise by Ann M. Martin. First exam today so hopefully my brain hasn't totally turned to mush...

Lynne | 27 comments You do read quickly Rachel!
I find I've more time to read now, and can reader quicker on my kindle.
I put my challenge at 150 but will see, also depends on how long and complex the books are ;)

message 7: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Oh yes, I definitely read faster on my Kindle too. Maybe because the print is clearer? It's excellent for reading in bed as I struggle to read small print with my glasses off. But the default print size on the Kindle is perfect for my eyesight.

Lynne, I reckon you can manage 150! I think you read pretty fast as well :) Especially now that Luke and Iona are equally happy to curl up with a book of their own for a while!

message 8: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Finished two books today, so I'm up to 5 now!

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) At #7 now. According to the counter on GoodReads I seem to be exactly on track :)

I know! Who knows how many books I'll get read in the next 2 weeks now that I'm on holiday ;)

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) And I've made it to 10 books! The little counter thing on GoodReads kept telling me I was falling behind while I was studying for exams but I've read three or four books this week and now I'm on track :) So nice to just sit and read what I want for a while...until classes start again in a week.

I got 10 read this month too although that is so rare for me, I really do not think I will be reading that much but who knows. I may hve to increase my goal.

message 15: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Start of February and I'm up to #12!

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Okay, I'm still on track but I haven't updated in a while as the last book took me sooooo long to read! My edition was 516 pages, which honestly isn't too much longer than my usual reads, but it dragged on forever. Glad I've got that book out of the way but I still have plenty more hefty novels on my TBR for this semester.

message 17: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I finished an audiobook today (hadn't realised I only had about 1 hour left of it) so that's me up to #19 and apparently 1 book ahead!

I feel like such a slug... plodding away at such a slow pace. I think you're my hero!!

message 20: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Aww, thank you! :)

Actually a lot of the books I have to read this semester are really long so my reading has slowed down. I've changed my goal from 130 to 120 but I may put it back again during the summer if I end up reading more. I'm in the middle of half a dozen books right now, but not close to finishing any of them!

message 21: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I hate being at that point! You are so far from completion of all your books! But the part I do like is when you finish all the books near the same time and BAM your total read count totally jumps up!

message 22: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Haha, I know! I'm in the middle of a couple of 500+ page books right now for my English Lit. course but it's taking me ages to finish them. Then I have an audiobook and a fiction and non-fiction book on my Kindle. But my total was looking sad and I have a feeling the whole semester is going to be like this so I've amended my goal! I'm sure over spring break my total will jump up again!

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I'm up to #43 now...looks like I'm on track!

message 25: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) 58! I'm loving how many books I'm getting through now that exams are over :)

message 26: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) According to GoodReads, I'm 5 books ahead of my goal...which is good, as I don't know how much non-university reading I'll get done once the next semester starts. This should keep me on track :)

message 27: by Lynne (last edited Jul 20, 2012 12:25PM) (new)

Lynne | 27 comments Well done! I'm reading less over the summer, since the kids are about...even though they are reading lots :/

message 28: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I keep forgetting to update this. I'm currently up to 119!
