Do you have a reading goal or challenge for 2012? Perhaps you want to read 50 books, or 100? Or maybe you want to read more books from a certain genre? Start a thread, let us know what your challenge is and keep us updated on how you're doing! We can all encourage each other, and hopefully spot a few new books to add to our wishlists.

Jennifer (texasaggieteacher) | 101 comments I fell way short of my 150 books this past year! lol I am starting out with 85 and see if I may increase it later on.

Ausjenny | 76 comments I went for 100 in 2011 and read 132ish. this year I will still put 100 as when I get a job I know it will cut into reading time. I am also doing a challange to read a book in all USA states.

This is my first year setting a reading goal and I didn't want to take on more than I can handle. Since I work a full-time job, I can only read on my lunch hour, in the evenings before I go to bed, and on the weekends.

I decided on a goal of 40 for the year. I know that sounds so lame compared to other people. If I'm able to read more, I'll up the # for next year.

Ausjenny | 76 comments Elizabeth its not lame. I use to have the goal of 52 books a year which was a book a week. but in the past 4 or 5 years I am reading more than ever as there is nothing to watch on tv.

Yeah, it's not lame. Some people are busier than others or just read slow. It's a challenge for yourself, not them!

Karen | 4 comments I did 300 last year, I'm going to go for longer books and a higher page count this year which is why my goal is cut in half.

Cammie | 140 comments My original goal for 2011 was 50 and I passed it so I set it at 60 and ended up reading 77. I get in reading funks and just can't focus sometimes. This year I set my goal for 85. I hope I can make this one and don't have to lower it.

Yeah I found myself in some reading funks last year as well. I ended up taking most of December off and found it helped. I will read 2 or 3 books real fast and then need a break for a week or so. I can't wait to see all the books we all read this year.

Karen- 300!! That is awesome. I started reading longer books last year which is why I did not get as many read as I planned.

I left the 2012 reading challenge. I'm finding myself watching how far I am in my first book of the year and trying to get it done faster, etc. I'm not going to enjoy reading if I'm feeling pressure, so I'll just read what I want for the indivdual challenges I'm in and however many books I read for the year, I read. I'm not going to worry about it!

I don't do it for the challenge I just think its fun to see how many I read. Last year I just kept changing my goal amount to reflect how much I had read. I like being able to click on the read books and having an easy spot to see what books I read.

I admire anyone who can do it...Wish I could do it and enjoy it too!

message 13: by Penny (new)

Penny I'm aiming for 52 books this year, a book a week!! I also keep a running list throughout the year of what I read, this will be the 4th (I think) year that I keep a Books Read List (c:

Abbi My goal is to read all of the books that I own personally and hadn't read yet, which at the beginning of the year was 67. So I set my goal for 70 but I think I'll raise it since it's only Feb and I've already read 29 books 41% of my goal!
