terpkristin | 4407 comments I rarely think about books and how they would work if they were turned into a movie. I don't watch too many movies (rarely have the attention span for them), have no idea who actors are, and can only think of a few examples where the movie was better than the book.

But I think Rule 34 could be one of those examples. All while I was reading it, getting confused on exactly what was going on and in particular getting confused about the Toymaker, I thought to myself that it'd probably be more clear if it were a movie. Did anybody else feel this way?

I figured a movie could put more emphasis on Liz, on the Toymaker, and a dark entity behind The Operation. It would be easier to follow who was where and what they were doing/why it mattered. And I'd hope that a movie could make the actual "operation" a little more clear in general, perhaps by showing us how much of a pawn Anwar really was.

So...I'm no good with actors and directors and such. Somehow, I'm seeing someone like either Charlize Theron or Anjelina Jolie as Liz. Maybe somebody like Gary Busey like the Toymaker. William H. Macy as Dickie. And maybe someone like Dennis Hopper or Donald Sutherland as the entity behind The Operation.

Any thoughts? Am I completely off-base?

Kate O'Hanlon (kateohanlon) | 778 comments I think I'd rather see a Scott play Liz, maybe Simone Lahbib.

Definitely Kayvan Novak for Anwar.

The narrator is Scottish and does many different accents. Some are very thick a took a little getting used to. Overall, I think it really improved the experience for me to hear the Scottish accents.
