I like this list The 50 Coolest Books Ever Which books have you read? Favourites/recommendations?

There's quite a few books there that I guessed would be on. I've just bought Perfume and hope to read that soon. I've started The Wasp Factory and The Secret History but never finished.

Always fancied reading Slaughterhouse Five, The Bonfire of The Vanities, American Psycho and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The Wasp Factory - now that is a book that wowed me:)

Slaughterhouse Five is one that I have noticed a lot recently and seems like a must-read-in-the-near-future.

I've read 12 O.O
A Clockwork Orange - I read that a long time ago and had real trouble with the made-up jargon, so I was mostly annoyed, must try it again now that my English has improved.
Slaughterhouse Five - I adore Vonnegut, he is a genius. So it goes.
If on a winter's night a traveler - Pretentious and boring. Boring I can forgive, but pretentious, shoot me.
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - Dark, grotesque, fascinating, amazing.
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle - Ummmm. Can't say I liked it, can't say I didn't like it. It's bizarre, disjointed, segmented, eerie in a not-quite-nightmarish way, like a japanese film.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - I didn't like this very much, no particular reason, we just didn't click.
The Wasp Factory - I had such high hopes for this as I thought The Player of Games was amazing - this wasn't, not at all. With added eyebrow raises for vain attempts at forcing shock value.
1984 - Read it.
The Secret History - Ehhhh, was okay, I suppose, in a mediocre way.
Middlesex - Amazing, just amazing - the writing, the story, the characters, the backdrop, everything - so vivid.
The Great Gatsby - Again, didn't click with this one, nothing wrong with it, just felt very impersonal to me.
The Corrections - One of those books that seems is written to get a Booker and that it the end of its aspirations. So, no.

I like your breakdown:) I read If on a winter's night a traveller on holiday and it's not a holiday read. I didn't enjoy it either and it is pretty bizarre. You sum up Murakami books well. I loved Wasp Factory but maybe I should reread it. I'll be voting for Slaughterhouse Five next month!
