There are so many lists of the best books that this list makes a nice change Worst Books of the Decade

I thought that On Chesil Beach captured unsaid words and lost opportunities beautifully. It wasn't a joy to read but his books aren't like that. They are about the depth of anguish and they can be uncomfortable to read. They remind me of classical music and there are moments where I forget to breathe. In the end they teach me to appreciate all that I have because moments may be fleeting but memories live on and most people do look back on strong experiences and wonder how they could have changed the outcome.
