I've noticed that quite a few of you are Goodreads authors. I'm sure others have writing that group members might be interested in.

Do you write stories with Gothic elements? Dark fiction?

My books have been described as Victorian Noir. They are gothic, most definitely and also get tagged as horror quite a lot but they are also quite romantic in parts. They are historical crime novels.

It does. I suggest start with the 2nd book - THE DEVIL'S RIBBON - if you get time. Don't ask me why, but it seems to work better this way for readers. More personal stuff of lead character in 2nd but they are not sequential. There are some giveaways for both books in run up to St Patrick's Day on Saturday so do look out for these. If you want me to post the details, let me know and I will.

I'm not exactly a full blown Gothic Fantasy or Dark Fantasy writer, but my writing does have dark overtones throughout the 30 book series (26 are currently published and I'm editing and touching up #27). My main character is a rather dark personality, Scottish, 800 years old. His occupation as a Templar Knight left over from the Dark Ages, is Alchemist/Assassin for an ancient Order of Warrior monks trying to get by in the modern world and not doing a very good job at it. As the series progresses, things get darker and there be dragons and other monsters along the way.

I've based the text off what was used in another thread, but let me know if you'd like me to change anything..

I don't really write Gothic fantasy but my stuff does get pretty dark. I do throw humor, romance, and action in also to mix it up. My fist novel is the beginning of a saga about modern day children of gods. These children, known in this world as disciples, fight a never ending battle between the spawn of the Titans, gods, and other disciples. I am currently working on getting Volume 2 published and writing Volume 3. Here are some links to where you can sample a couple of the chapters.

My latest book is The Haunting at Blackwood Hall. It's a Gothic family psychodrama disguised as a Victorian ghost story.

I've written an ultra-Gothic supernatural thriller called The Age of Apollyon. It's got everything delightfully dark: cathedrals, demons, Satanism vs. Christianity, graveyards, Latin incantations.

My debut novel has been recently released, and it's full to the brim of meaty Gothic-goodness. Hideously scarred anti-heroes, insane scientists, assassins and sewer-dwelling rebels. Drop them all into a city made of alleyways and crumbling architectural follies and you've got yourself a rip-roaring good time :D

So far, the reviews have been excellent with the novel being likened to Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and the works of Charles Dickens all rolled into one.
