Yesterday I ran a Facebook add that brought in over 70 new likes for my facebook Author page (http://www.facebook.com/AuthorLMSmith)

I would like to have some kind of Facebook-based contest with a free signed copy of my latest book to the winner but I'm having a hard time coming up with something that will be fun and encourage participation from my new fans.

Does anyone have any ideas that they could share with me?

I'm a recently published author, so I'm always thinking about this kind of thing (I dream about Facebook promos...). For the giveaway, you could ask Friends to post to their OWN pages about you (something they like about the book description, or encouraging others in their contacts to check you out). Once they have posted, they can post to your page to enter the giveaway. It's a bit of an honor system, but it will encourage your Friends to open their network to you, so you might get more out of it than just giving away a free book.

Marik this is great! Rebecca and I were actually just discussing a giveaway like this. We had created a poll (noted on a link on the upper right corner) to see if authors or publishing houses might be interested in this. We were going to create a new folder called Read to Review for this kind of thing. Keep your eyes open for it and if you don't get the response here, feel free to repost when we open the folder. I think we have a few more days that we were planning on leaving the poll open but the interest looks good.

Wonderful! We love to have access to our audience and because we are so small would gladly exchange ebooks for review. I wasn't sure if I had posted correctly, so I will keep an eye out for your new folder. We will be releasing two more books in the near future, both are paranormal. REVIEW: "Wolf Dawn is bloody, twisted, and engaging. Spurning many of the traditions and tropes of adult fantasy, the characters engage in real dialogue, the language is clean and elegant, and the story moves along at a cracking pace. Intelligent without being overly complex, Cartwright deals with dark themes with a deft hand and stops her story devolving from grittiness into pornography.

Any story that starts with a mass genocide promises to be an engaging read, and readers who are fans of George R R Martin's, or Joe Abercrombie's, new 'Gritty Fantasy' settings and approaches will be well rewarded. People die, get tortured, and have horrendous things happen to them nearly constantly.

The good guys aren't necessarily going to win here - and with endearingly psychopathic villains, I'm not sure I want them to!

There are real relationships in this book - refreshingly different from the somewhat formulaic, plot-driven romances that so much of this genre seems bound by. As a mashup of styles, Wolf Dawn succeeds in bringing an elegance and a unique approach to adult fantasy that shows why this author may have chosen to go down the route of self-publishing. It's not for everyone, but if you like your characters real, the stakes high, and the worldbuilding inventive and detailed, then Wolf Dawn is well worth your time.

REVIEW: With the epic nature of Ursula Le Guin and the twists and nasty villains of H.R. Martin, Sue Cartwright hits it out of the park. Very entertaining and I could not put it down, so I lost many hours of productivity because I just had to finish it.

I recently ran a facebook event for the release of my newest book, Demise of the Vampire Queen:

What I did on fb was just post trivia questions surrounding the paranormal. I also posted pics from paranormal movies and asked people to tell me the movie. Of course, since my book was a trilogy, I asked questions about my first and second book. You really need to get other authors willing to give away ecopies of their books so you can do giveaways as that pulls in the public to come look around. Make sure you advertise the giveaway too. Hope this helps.
