What Shall I Read? discussion
Welcome, Say Hello!

I'm Nikki-ann (feel free to call me Nikki) and I'm a book reviewer and blogger.
I'd have to say that my all-time favourite series of books is The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. My favourite genre is crime thrillers, but I also enjoy autobiographies, urban fantasy, mysteries and YA fiction (despite being older than the age it is aimed at!). However, I'll give anything a go. :)
Favourite authors include (but not limited to): Jim Butcher, Catherine Ryan Hyde, Jess Haines, Christopher Fowler, Simon Beckett... and I could go on!

My name is KJ and I'm from South Africa. I run a book blog, Worlds in Ink and I have a passion for all things science fiction and fantasy. With a larger focus on science fiction.
I'm a complete book addict. My TBR pile has more than 400 books and yet I can't resist buying even more.
I'm also a huge Pratchett fan (but then again, who isn't?).

Not restricted to UK only - some giveaways maybe and the events naturally are - will make a point to mention when something is. Very pleased to meet you - will also go and checkout your blog!

Looking forward to finding even more recommendations to increase the teetering TBR pile.

Good to know and glad to meet you guys too.

Terry Pratchett is a genius!"
Feel free to let me know what you guys think about the blog. Always up for constructive criticism (especially since English is my second language).
Terry Pratchett is definitely genius. Another group I belong to had/has a Terry Pratchett challenge going on. I read 20 Discworld novels in one month to give my team the edge (and we won!). His work are my comfort reads when I'm in a reading slump.

I'm Dani, a 21-year-old, English and Creative Writing student at Birmingham City University.
I'm also a bookseller at Waterstones in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, and a book blogger at Pen to Paper. I'll follow anyone back, who lets me know that they're following :)
I'll read pretty much anything, to be honest - even if it's not one of my 'normal' genres, I'll give anything a go once. But my favourite genres are Fantasy/urban fantasy, Science Fiction, and Dystopian Fiction. But I do read general fiction too!
I'm attempting to read more crime novels, as this is the genre that I tend to ignore a little.
My favourite authors are from a range of genres. At the top of the list is Charlaine Harris (who writes mostly Dark Fantasy stuff now, but I also enjoy her older, crime series), Barbara Kingsolver, and Jasper Fforde (among many others).
I look forward to chatting :)
Hi Dani & Teresa!
I love Charlaine Harris and the other Harris - Joanne! Good to have you in the group!

I've only read one of Joanne Harris' novels,
Blueeyedboy, but that was fantastic! I have Gentlemen & Players and Blackberry Wine to read now. Which would you recommend first? :)

I am a book nut and will read anything as long as it's a good story. If pressed, however, I'd have to list Louis de Bernieres, David Mitchell, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Clive Barker, Ian Banks (with and without the M), A.L. Kennedy and Katherine Dunn (for the amazing Geek Love) as my favourite authors.
I'm also one of Transworld's authors.
Michael.

If you liked Blueeyedboy I would recommend Gentlemen & Players first!

Blueeyedboy was very different from her French set/foodie type novels although I loved it too. Gentlemen and Players is probably a better bet after BEB.

Hi Treez! I really like Jane Harris too, The Observations was a brilliant read, and Gillespie and I has been on my to read pile far too long!

Will have to be next month though, because I'm doing a Review Copy Cleanup challenge all through March.

I've beem a member of Goodreads since 2009 and regularly leave reviews of the books I have read.
When I'm not reading I'm found blogging with my cat jaffa over at http://jaffareadstoo.blogspot.com/
My favourite genres are Historical fiction and non fiction, Contemporary literature, Romance, Crime.
My favourite authors are Barbara Erskine, Philippa Gregory,Elizabeth Chadwick,Diana Gabaldon,Karin Slaughter.

I am Jirina and I love books!
My favourite authors are Phillipa Gregory and Jodi Picoult. I like anything from crime to chick-lit. If it sounds good I'll have it.
x

My fave book/author of all time is Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, but I have many more faves!
I love pretty much anything with vampires, although not reading any at the mo, cos I've given up vampires for lent!! I have several Charlaine Harris books yelling at me from the to-be-read shelves, but must resist!!
Also love most things by Jodi Picoult, Jasper Fforde, John Irving, oh, I could go on all day!!

Hi Nat, Dianne, Sarah and Elaine,
Lots of good books mentioned here, I'm always on the look out for new authors so will try the ones I've not heard of! And hopefully we can get some new discussions going on what we love!

I have had my Kindle since New Year's Eve and downloaded loads. I have been reading since I was in nursery and can't stop (do I want to lol).
I love reading Crime, Thrillers and loads of genres. I am willing to give anything a go once.

I'm Jane, I'm an accountant, I live in Cornwall and I have a book blog: Fleur Fisher in her World.
My reading is fairly eclectic, taking in classics, historical fiction, crime, and literaryish fiction.
I'm less fond of horror, science fiction and chic lit.
Generally I like a good, well written story about interesting people and their lives.
My favourite books that I've read lately have been The Little Shadows by Marina Endicott, Tom-All-Alones by Lynn Shepherd, The Last Summer by Judith Kinghorn, The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman, The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey, Diving Belles by Lucy Wood ..

Ooh, I have The Little Shadows TBR and reviewed very soon. I loved The Last Summer, The Dovekeepers and The Snow Child and am yearning to read Tom All Alones so I'd better investigate Diving Belles to complete the set! :-)
Hello all!
I loved the Snow Child such a moving book. Also just finished the Hunger Games which was so good I read it in a day!

Hmm, what else do I say?
I'm pretty eclectic with my reading, I don't generally stick to certain genres - though my favourite is probably literary fiction (is that even a genre, surely that's a paradox?!).
As with everyone else I have a massive teetering TBR pile that I'm actually quite scared of. My favourite reads if this year so far have been, The Snow Child, Harold Fry (though I read it last Novemeber!) and The Fault in our Stars.

Just joined the group this afternoon following an invite from the book reading powerhouse that is Dog Ear Discs (see his Hello above)...
I don't really have a favourite genre, but I do tend to sway towards imaginative, literary titles if I can. Some of my recent favourites have been Warm Bodies, The Road, The Book Thief (to name a few).
Got my next 15 or so books lined up, some highlights being Fault in our Stars, Prince of Thorns, Snow Child, Florence and Giles...

I'm Emma, I blog at Book Monkey and I'm a bookseller at Waterstones in Cheltenham. I love all kinds of genres from literary fiction to fantasy, sci-fi, dark fantasy... I'm not so into crime however. Currently reading A Game of Thrones and The Lifeboat! And some of my favourite authors include Markus Zusak, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Philip Pullman, China Mieville, John Green, Laini Taylor and so on!

I am Jo and I blog at The Book Jotter.
I read a fairly wide range of books. Favourite being Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.
Looking forward to finding some more blogs to follow.

I'm here from an invite from Treez.
I'm Jenny book blogger and reviewer at Chocolate Chunky Munkie . I named my blog after my cheeky Chunky Chocolate Labrador Hades. Hades is my Chocolate Chunky Munkie <3 I live in the UK.
I have a wide range of reading genres (Crime,Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, Dystopian) but mostly I can be found with my head in the YA section. I'm certainly above their target audience at 30something, but hey this doesn't stop me enjoying it :)
My favourite authors would have to be Beth Revis, Charlaine Harris, Carrie Ryan and Michael Cordy.

My book blog is here http://beadyjansbooks.blogspot.co.uk/
I'm a member of the book forums at ReaditSwapit and I love reading, most of my favourite authors are women (Though not exclusively) and I have a strong leaning towards dual time frame novels.

I saw this group via Viv's page so thought i'd say hello!
Hello new members - so pleased you like Christopher Fowler, he is a hidden gem. I love his books!

I love his Bryant & May books!
Bloggers, please don't forget to post links to your blogs... It's always great to visit like-minded bloggers :)

I like mainly crime, supernatural and thriller type books. x

I'm Lorna and I love books! I live in Edinburgh with my fiance, our cat and overflowing bookshelves and piles.
I read ANYTHING, and have a soft spot for literary fiction and crime thrillers.
My all-time favourite book is The Crow Road.

Favourite book is a tough choice…
Hmm After serous consideration I would probably go for Christine by Stephen King.
I stayed up until 3.30am to finish it but there are so many other close runners.
Ahh Terry Pratchett is also a firm favourite of mine, even before I started to work with him. His books are satirical treasures!
