Review:

Fifteen year old John Wayne Cleaver is having a tough time. He is convinced he will grow up to be a serial killer and is doing everything he can to quell those instincts by living with a set of rules that prevent him from dwelling on the bad things. He feels he is fated to be a serial killer because firstly, his parents named him after John Wayne Gacy (a serial killer who killed 33 people); secondly because his father's name is Sam which makes him the Son of Sam (a NY serial killer who's dog told him to kill); thirdly because his last name is Cleaver (a murder weapon); and lastly, he shows all the signs of the MacDonald Triad - bedwetting, pyromania and animal cruelty. The poor kid has been seeing a shrink for ever. It seems to be helping him but the thoughts and feelings of a serial killer in the making don't subside.

John is doing just fine with his rules until he realizes that his next door neighbor is a demon and he must relax his rules in order to kill him and stop him from killing others. This is the beginning of his downfall. Now it seems as if Mr. Monster, the killer inside, is taking over.

This was different but I rather enjoyed it. It was a very quick read and entertaining enough to add Mr. Monster to my TBR. Mr. Monster is the name John Cleaver gives the beast inside himself so this one should be real interesting.
