Kenya Wright The Awakening (Vampire Huntress Legend, #2) by L.A. Banks

I'm trying this book out. The first book was god awful. I had people telling me to just be patient and read the first two books. So I started this one and this book is actually good.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I'm currently reading Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie . I'm only a few pages into the story but hoping to read some more tonight. :)

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) It's dystopia. I'm kinda addicted to the genre lately. :P

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I have recently read Divergent :P It was good.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Cool. :)

What about read book 1 of each series and then decide?

I'm all over the place with my reading but right now Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels, #1) by Keri Arthur and next is either The Mating (Law of the Lycans, #1) by Nicky Charles or Stormwalker (Stormwalker, #1) by Allyson James

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 104 comments Kim Harrison's books do get better...DWW was kinda blah to me but book 3 imo is when the stories start getting more interesting. It's actually the book that I started getting invested into the characters!

message 10: by Jessi (new)

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 104 comments Yep that's pretty much what made the book blah....But she definitely starts getting better although there were a few moments when I banged my head against the book or the wall because of some of the crap she pulled/said...But eventually I got invested in her like she was my own little caterpillar that I was waiting to change, hatch, and fly away!

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 104 comments No prob!!!

message 12: by Jessi (new)

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 104 comments Oh you won't need luck but good luck anyway. You'll prob end up falling for Kate & Curran just like the rest of us.. :-)

message 13: by Jessi (new)

Jessi Overton (pixibella) | 104 comments Yeah I understand that...The worse part is when I really get into a book then have to make myself go to sleep so I can get up for work then have to wait all day to get back to it...That's why I always try to start new book on Friday afternoons so I have all weekend to read them uninterrupted

message 14: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads) (jenniferbadbirdreads) Just finished A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrions. It was really good. Got the book signed too.

Didn't you just love it. And Rachel I felt like a proud mama whose baby just decided to grow up while reading about Rachel's development. What was your favorite part?

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I finished rereading Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning SO awesome! ♥ Now I started Black City (Black City Chronicles, #1) by Elizabeth Richards and so far it looks great!

Oh you are in for it now! Those are some fun books with, as my cousin puts it, cliffhangers from hell! :) I just started
Bloodhound (Beka Cooper, #2) by Tamora Pierce , a YA book by Tamora Pierce, I love her books!

message 18: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 64 comments I'm sort of contemplating rereading the Fever series, but am also playing with the idea of finishing Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series. However, I'm not sureif I'll do the latter, because I'm in the middle of book two, and I can't get into it.

Which basically means that I don't know what to read yet. Lol. :)

Oh yeah. I better not touch the rest of the books or I'm stuck. But it was good to reread the first one. Got my Barrons fix.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I finished Black City (Black City Chronicles, #1) by Elizabeth Richards and was in tears by the end of it! Now I'm starting Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward , as it's my book of this month in Random Reads. ♥

I love Tamora Pierce's books! Bloodhound (Beka Cooper, #2) by Tamora Pierce has been on my list of books to read since I came out. I'll get to it some time soon I hope.

Currently reading (and loving) another YA: Black Heart (Curse Workers, #3) by Holly Black . It's the 3rd and final book in the series and I'll be sorry to finish this one.

message 24: by Estelle (E) (new)

Estelle (E) (vivelafantasy) Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead
and after that, I think I'll try Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

message 25: by Ginny (new)

Ginny | 4 comments Currently I am reading the Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland (book 1 is Mark of the Demon), I am enjoying them so far.
@ Estelle, I have read Beyond the Highland Mist, and didn't really like it... It was too much like an historical romance for my taste. There is some super natural aspect too it. Although if you haven't read Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, I highly recommend it. The Fever series is in my top 5 favorite U.F. series.

message 26: by Estelle (E) (new)

Estelle (E) (vivelafantasy) Thanks Ginny.
The Fever series is my top favorite too, that's why I wanted to try the Highlander series with the first one. Not sure I will like it but I only intend to read the first before starting a new series.
I still haven't read the Mortal instruments and First grave on the right. It may be one of those!

message 27: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 1 comments I'm reading 2 books (one is on my kindle phone ap and the other is the actual book) Mercy Blade (Jane Yellowrock, #3) by Faith Hunter and Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane . I love the Jane Yellowrock Novels and I am still not sure about Unholy Ghosts...

Stick with Unholy Ghosts it's quite edgey but if you can get past the drug used it's a really good series! I really like Chess and half the time I was rolling my eyes at the situations that she get's herself in!

I'm currently listening toDeadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12) by Charlaine Harris on audiobook. I kind of don't want it to finish cos I hate having to wait another year for more Sookie!

message 30: by Christin (new)

Christin (namalia) | 2 comments I am currently reading Last Argument of Kings (The First Law, #3) by Joe Abercrombie

Loved the first two books of this series and can't wait to see how it ends.

message 31: by Phil (new)

Phil Carleny wrote: "I just finished Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison (and hated it and hope that the second book will be better) and started reading some Kathy Reichs. Though I did open up Bitten by Kelley Armstrong..."

Carleny,

Dead Witch Walking is mainly worth reading for the character introductions. Second and later books are better.

Harrison improves steadily through the series, and her heroine gets bit-by-bit less angsty while going through several romances and kind-of romances.

Just my opinion, natcherly.

--Phil S.

message 32: by Tala (new)

Tala (tala2) I agree with you Phil. The series really didn't pick up til the 2nd or 3rd book. Didn't really like Pale Demon and Haven't read the latest one yet due to that.

I've read the first 2 so far and I really like them too! They are not too YA for my taste I think it's because they are not based around a school!

If the author is Benedict Jacka (who's book I've been meaning to check out) I heard that Jim Butcher gave him thumb ups and that they are new friends. Here's the link:
