DaniSays So as an avid reader of anything paranormal I come to you, fellow group members, for recommendations. I really want to step into the realm of zombies, but I want a good book that will grab my attention and not leave me disappointed. So far I've only read one zombie book and I was a little disappointed. SO! Please give me some ideas or recommendations on where I can start my zombie book journey. :) please and thank you.

Rick Gualtieri (rickgualtieri) | 7 comments More a novella, but if you're looking for a bit of a different take on Zombies, Stant Litore's "Zombie Bible" series is definitely an interesting concept..

Zombie Bible: Death Has Come Up Into Our Windows

Not trying to toot my own horn, but it's a little more paranormal and less horror I think. If it's what you're looking for.

Also on the short story / novella side are a series of stories by Thea Isis Gregory. I think my favorite is one called

Locked In

It's a quick read, but really offers an interesting perspective from a zombie's viewpoint.

I have some others on my TBR list, but can't really comment until I get to them.

David P Forsyth (daidpforsyth) | 2 comments Voyage of the Dead and Flotilla of the Dead are the first two books of a new zombie apocalypse series (The Sovereign Spirit Saga) that seems to be well received. I'm glad, if for no other reason than I wrote it. ;) I wanted to bring some classic science fiction themes into a contemporary zombie scenario and most readers seem to appreciate the new approach.

Imagine being at sea aboard a mega-yacht and watching the world tear itself to pieces on satellite TV, then rushing to rescue friends and family ashore. Now imagine what you would do with that ship in a world overrun by the undead... Each book is over 100,000 words and sells for $2.99 only at the Amazon Kindle Store.

Mark McLaughlin (mark_mclaughlin) | 2 comments Danielle --

I put a wide variety of zombie stories, from funny to gruesome to hauntingly horrific, in my collection, Beach Blanket Zombie Weird Tales of the Undead and Other Humanoid Horrors by Mark McLaughlin Beach Blanket Zombie: Weird Tales of the Undead and Other Humanoid Horrors from Wildside Books, so feel free to check out the page at the other end of that link.

The book has 33 stories in it, and one was written in collaboration with Kyra Schon, one of the stars of the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (she played the little zombie girl in the basement!).

Z PLAN:Blood on the Sand is a story about a soldiers journey home from Iraq during the zombie apocalypse. I wrote it while I was deployed in 2007.
