Karina Yes, I know most classics are required reading in school and we all hate that. BUT you cannot deny that some are really good!

I love too many :P

What are some of your favorites?
Which did you hate?

message 2: by James (new)

James (theadventurousbookreader) Our English teacher in 7th grade made us read Where The Red Grows. I love the book and we did watch the movie as well. Another favorite classic book of mine is Old Yeller. The book is really sad. I have not read any classic book so far that I do not dislike.

message 3: by Karina (new)

Karina I don't think I have either!
I think i read that book in the 7th grade as well but i don't really remember it. and I've never herd of Old Yeller!..im going to check it out.

message 4: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (morgzsydney) | 43 comments I loved Great Expectations, The Catcher in the Rye, To Kill A Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies.

I really disliked Animal Farm, 1984 and Of Mice and Men (well I did like the ending, just not the rest of the book)

message 5: by Karina (new)

Karina yay! another Catcher in the Rye fan! Loved both To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies(recommended to me by my brother a few years ago)

I plan to read 1984 and of Mine and Men, we will see how I end up liking those.

Has anyone read War and Peace?

message 6: by Jay (new)

Jay My favorite is Romeo & Juliet

message 7: by Karina (new)

Karina I love that one too! I think the fact that its a tragic love story is what makes it very interesting. Yeah, i know people have a problem with how they handled the situation and don't believe it possible for the two to fall in love so quickly but they were young *shrug*
i need to re-read it (:

Cupcake Bookworm (cupcakebookworm) we are reading A Midsummer Night's Dream. i like it. we also read Little Women. i didnt like it.

message 9: by Karina (new)

Karina I want to read that one! Ive been told its really good (:
i liked Little women but I probably wouldn't re read it or read the other two books.

Michele C (mcgxo95) | 4897 comments Mod
oh you should read it! It's really short and the English is very simple so it's very easy to read. It's a pretty depressing book yet this is how it is/was for many many people trying to follow and have their American Dream

ℂᖺαᖇᒪἷ℮ ⊰1017 &Tardis⊱ (charlie_awesome) I like To Kill A Mockingbird

Lord of the Flies was okayish.

message 16: by Karina (new)

Karina Oooh I should read the Jungle Book!

message 17: by brooke1994 (new)

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) It's really different from the Disney version. In the movie the snake is a villain, but in the book he's one of Mowgli's teachers...

message 18: by Karina (new)

Karina oh really...Well I'm still curious to read it (:

message 19: by brooke1994 (new)

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) Sorry, I didn't mean to bore you with that random fact :P

message 20: by Karina (new)

Karina You didn't! i am sorry if it sounded that way i really meant like "Ooh Reeeaaaally?" and in my head i was thinking "Thats interesting, i wonder what else is different" (don't tell me!) :D

message 21: by brooke1994 (new)

It was for school and I just thought it was pretty boring. I bought an audiobook just to finish it

message 31: by Karina (new)

Karina i think its easier and more enjoyable when you read a book because YOU want to not because you are required to read it. But I loved it, it was probably because it was in Huck's POV though.

Yeah i hate being told what to read! I never read Tom Sawyer but I heard it's much better

Haha you should hear some students in my class try to say Sophocles it is funny because they try to mumble it hoping to get away with it but our professor makes them repeat it loudly and then fun of anyone who says it wrong.
