I am so glad that I didn't take the first few reviews of this book as gospel or I would have missed a very well written and entertaining book. The book was exactly what I wanted it to be with some wonderful surprises along the way. I could completely invasion the castle, the dresses and the whole selection process. The book was very well done by Ms. Cass, she gave just the right amount of detail and description-not to much not to little. The characters had depth and I honestly didn't read any cliches or typical run of the mill stereotyped YA leads. I thoroughly enjoyed America's personality and I wish I could like all female protagonists as much as I liked her.
I am very excited to hear that CW is shooting a test pilot for the fall season. I find that they do a better job of transferring book to tv than other networks. When they take liberties they tend to pay of well.
I will be anxiously awaiting the sequel, yes it is not a stand alone, but it is YA so that pretty much guarantees that the story can't be told in one book.
If you like the following recipe then you can't go wrong with this book: a good dystopian tale, mixed with Cinderella meets a reality dating show, add some great writing, fold in romantic angst= a book you can't miss.

I read this book in less than a week and I loved it ! I can't believe that anyone could not like America she embodies everything that an ideal character should ! She is strong-willed , humble, and smart. She is not like other female characters that I have read about lately who are wimpy, whiny, and are pitiful role models. America has compassion for those around her but she also knows the importance of looking out for herself! I didn't think I could find a book I liked better than Hunger Games but this one took the medal! This book may not be for you if you can't be happy with the sweet romance that can blossom from friendship or if you are looking for something like fifty shades of grey this is not for you, this book has depth. I can't wait for the next book to come out and I really advise anyone who loves the Bachelor, Hunger Games, Cinderella, or just a really great story !
