Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Jeann and I will be reading Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn around the last week of May (since we will be joining the Red-Headed Stepchild group read). If anyone else wants to join, you are more than welcome!

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Excellent these buddy reads are great for crossing books off the to-read list! :)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I know! I'm really excited, because I've owned this for awhile and I've never gotten around to reading it! :D

Missyb | 71 comments it's an okay book. Good characters & twists. The radio call in show occupies too much of the story. I like the humor in it.

Komal | 82 comments Ohh I'd like to join in too! Paranormal + humor = perfect for me :) Is there an official start date?

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Around May 28th I would be guessing, that's a week after the Red Headed Step Child Buddy Read:)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments May 28th sounds good to me. :) Hope you can join Komal!

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Are we still good for this next week? Once I finish my Red-Headed Stepchild which should be mid this week I might start this.

Komal | 82 comments Yep I'll be reading this one.

Christine | 850 comments I've read the whole series that's out so far, but I'll be interested to hear what other people think of this first book.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Next week will be better. I already finished Red-Headed Stepchild but I have family coming in from Thurs. night until Sun.

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) I'd like to play too if that's okay with everybody. I've never actually done a buddy read before but I have had this book on my TBR for at least 2 years so it's about time I cracked it open methinks!

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Lynsey, welcome! We will be starting the book on Monday, so be sure to have a copy :) I hope you enjoy doing a buddy read with us!

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) I've got about 30 pages left of my current book, then I shall be digging into this. I hope it's good after the long wait!

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Just started it (only on page 25 at the moment) not enough to see what it's like yet. The "intro" wasn't really an introduction.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments So I started it and finished it in one sitting. It was pretty easy to get through without too much dull time in between the action. I actually found the radio show aspect to be pretty interesting. There were some inconsistencies that bothered me. Submissive, pathetic Kitty and then all of a sudden kick ass Kitty? That change was very quick! I gave the book three stars. I will probably be reading the next book in the series. I like Kitty, and I think this was a debut for the author so I'm willing to see where this goes.

Komal | 82 comments I'm about 50 pages in and I like it so far. It's nice to see a heroine who doesn't try so hard to act like an Alpha.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments I'm about 76 pages in (since getting my Internet installed at home I haven't dedicated much time to reading!) and I can't figure Kitty out yet. It seems like she's always been the weak, cowering one but all of a sudden due to her radio show she's wanting (subconsciously) kick ass. This is one of my first werewolf reads (besides Shiver) and the whole pack mentality is interesting.

I am enjoying the radio segments although it seems to be risky to be doing something that is supposed to be hidden to the human eye? Also I'm up to the part where (view spoiler)

This isn't my first werewolfy read and what's interesting to me is how the author has picked out some of the downsides of being a werewolf rather than just highlighting all the cool stuff, like extra speed, strength, hearing, etc. Which is what happens in many other series. Her wolf side and her human side don't seem to be in perfect harmony with each other, that's for sure!

Komal | 82 comments I just finished this book and I loved it. Kitty was such a different heroine from the typical UF heroines. Glad I gave this book a try.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments I'm nearly finished the book and I do agree with how her werewolf side and human side don't agree with each other. I'd be interesting to see how it pans out, (view spoiler). I do like Kitty, she is a different heroine.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments I just finished the book. I really liked it, will be continuing with the next one (a future buddy read)? The whole pack thing I found slightly disturbing. (view spoiler).

Also I'm not quite sure how the issue of supernatural beings are meant to be handled. Typically in most other books they hide it from the world, so Kitty just coming out with it makes it seem a little too convenient in a sense.

Here's my review on it for some further thoughts: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Komal | 82 comments I think this is the first book I've read that questions the whole pack system. To see the consequences of someone who misuses their power is new for me. I like that Vaugn touches on this as well as what it's means to be at the bottom of the barrel in a pack.

I agree with you Jeann about revealing the existence of a paranormal world. The reaction seems a bit odd; they're not even shocked.

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) I finished too. I went straight onto the next book to see how things pan out from there since so much changes in her world during the course of the book.

I reviewed it as well: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
