The Story Thus Far: Sully does a card trick that results in 5 Angels of Heart-Stars. We find out that Sully (and Ren) can control the feelings they send to others. The first real sexy-time moment occurs. Pinned between two Imperial ships, Chaz gets ready to spar off against Philip Guthrie to continue through the system, we don't know what type of history these two have. At the end of Chapter 15, Sully reads Chaz's mind.

Chapter 13 answered one of my questions about Ren's calming forehead to forehead business from Chapter 6 when we find out that those with empathic abilities are able to send emotions to someone else. Definitely an interesting turn of events. I like the concept behind how this idea was intertwined in the sexy-time but I think it could have been executed better.

One of my favorite Ren moments happens in chapter 13. He is trying to assuage Chaz's fears towards Sully:

...But as for Gabriel Sullivan." Ren reach out his six-fingered hand toward me. I clasped it. Warmth flooded me. But something else. Certainty. Trust. Compassion. Courage. He pulled his hand back, smiled. "That is all I can tell you."

The whole Angel of Heart-Stars thing is interesting to me. I'm suspecting Chaz is right in thinking that Sully is able to push acceptance onto her and make her see what she wants to see. It seems like a dumb move on his part to me. He knows she's still a bit fearful of all the unanswered questions surrounding what he is/can do - why make it worse by playing this sort of trick?

I'm also curious about Sully's apparent ability to put people to sleep at the bottom of page 165.

I'm going to leave the fact that Sully OMG READ HER MIND for the Ch 16-18 thread, since all of the consequences happen there.

I feel like we are learning a LOT about Sully right now.

I'm mostly left just curious about what will be happening in the next few chapters. Especially after the mind reading.

In so many ways it seems aparent that Ren fits Chaz's ideal in these chapters. But at the same time, she starts to see more of what Sully can do. I am amazed that she doesn't seem to make the connection that Sully is putting her to sleep... she seemed smarter than that!

All of that supposed tension and we get to two hasty bouts of minimal-foreplay-missionary-position sex? How was anything about two quickies and an insta-orgasm "wicked"? Functional, certainly. Convenient, yes. Wicked? Hell no!

I seriously MISSED the sexy time in this book. There was like NOTHING truly indicating it. Maybe I'm just oblivious too.

Sexy time was very short, considering they went at it twice. I wanted more out of it. It's nice that were are finding out more about Sully, I am curious about the aftermath of the mind read.

Did anyone else catch the "Reading rainbows" bit during the pillow talk? I don't know why it didn't hit me before, but I laughed and sang the Reading Rainbow theme song :)
