You are going to be a happy camper over this book. And I hope it will lead you on the the two remaining books in Bragg's family "trilogy"--Ava's Man and The Prince of Frogtown.
Bragg is a delight in conversation. I've been fortunate to have spoken with him on several occasions. He lives in Tuscaloosa, my home town, working at The University of Alabama. His home was damaged during the E4 tornado that devastated my city on April 27 of last year. He has written of his experience and those of his neighbors in an outstanding article for Southern Living Magazine. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't grow to book length.
Here's the link to Rick Bragg's Journal for Southern Living. It contains a wonderful video interview with Bragg that will reveal much about the man and how he speaks to anyone he meets.

Bragg is sly and dry in wit, but subject to grin and break into a belly laugh. He's a big man. Simply put, he has an unforgettable presence.
Currently he's working on the biography of Jerry Lee Lewis. GAWD, I can only imagine the two of them spending their days together, splitting their sides, swapping tales.
When Pat Conroy came to Birmingham for his tour with South of Broad, Conroy wasn't feeling well. He brought reinforcements with him; his wife, Cassandra King, and his buddy Rick Bragg. It was an evening of Southern story telling at its finest.
Happy reading!
