I love Heather Brewer's writing and loved the Vlad Todd series (even as an adult), but did anyone else find Joss kind of whiny and annoying in this first book of the series? I found myself disliking him and because of that, disliking the book.

Thoughts?

♥ Alexia -Team Malec ♥ What? No! Just look what he's been through! He got whipped, I wouldn't have been able to go through that. and he lost a sister. Give him a break.

Silver Shadow Joss is really annoying with his secrecy of feelings. Yes he witnessed a horrible scene of his sister's death but he is also so stubborn when it comes to vampires, even when Sirus took care of him as a parent he still thought of him as a monster when he discovered he was a vampire. What sucks even more, when he tried to stab Vlad the second time in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod.

Yeah, he and this whole Slayer Society thing with their odd rules made me dislike the book somewhat. But loved it in the last two chapters when Dorian (my favorite character <3) and D'Ablo appeared :)

Gabby AHHHHHH!!!! I LOVE DORIAN!!!!!! :D

To be honest with you, the Slayer series is not the type of book you should read as soon as possible. Maybe because I'm not that interested in the slayer series but that is my opinion. On the other hand, im a bit excited for the vampires to appear....ma love Dorian!

Levi Collins Well, I am only on the second book now and working on reading the series, but so far I do not believe Joss to be whiny. Yes, he complains often, but think about what he is going through. He got his sister and two of his slayer friends taken away from him, not only that but his uncle is training him to the bone and such. He has reason to complain and I think that the complaining makes it somewhat realistic to a certain extent. Since any normal person would probably complain a lot to themselves in such a situation.
