Wendy T I finished Across the Universe by Beth Revis. I liked this book but I'm just not a science fiction reader. I did get through this book and gave it 3 stars.

Julia | 11782 comments I read this in May. I was surprised to see I gave it 4 stars, in my memory I was less pleased with it...

I like science fiction and was pleased that this YA dystopian novel is also firmly sf.

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, Book 1) by Beth Revis Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1) by Beth Revis was a well done young adult science fiction novel. I would have rated the book 4.5 stars,, but we don't have a half star option and I felt that 5 stars was closer than 4 stars to my opinion about this story. This book was the intriguing story of Amy, a space pioneer, traveling in cyro freeze with her parents to Centauri Earth to establish humanity first space colony. Amy is mysterious unfrozen enroute and gets to know the generational inhabitants of the spaceship Godspeed. She becomes especially close to a teenager close to her own age, Elder, who is being trained to be the next generation's leader. Others are also mysteriously, and often fatally, unfrozen and a mystery as to who and why develops.

Solid characters, good pacing with mysteries slowly developing, but with enough action to keep the reader's interest. What isn't deferred for the next book is adequately explained. Completely enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next book in this trilogy.

I was really torn between four and five stars for A Million Suns (Across the Universe, Book 2) A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis
by Beth Revis. Great, original science fiction story, believable characters, action interspersed throughout, but at times I had difficulty continuing to read and would put this book aside for several days. Eventually, I always went back to it, to solve the mysteries as much as anything else. I will definitely read the third book in this trilogy, in order to solve the final mystery and discover the fates of the frozen colonists, Orion, and the enemy uncovered in this book. Four stars.
