What is the Pick-It-For-Me Challenge?

The Pick-It-For-Me Challenge (PIFM) is a reading challenge where each participant gives and receives book recommendations based on a given set of rules. The assignment method and book selection rules change each month so it’s always new and different. Please make sure you read this information before you sign up.

After the signup period expires, I'll put your names along the extra info I requested into the super secret PIFM randomizer and select someone for you to choose for. The person for whom you are to 'pick' will be posted at the same time as the rules for the month.

While you are doing your picks, someone else is picking for you. Once you receive your picks, you select a book off the list and get reading. To complete the challenge, you only have to read 1 (one) book, but many of us end up reading more because we just can't resist a list of books to read.

You need to either HAVE YOUR PROFILE SET TO PUBLIC (preferable), or make the person who will be giving you recommendations your friend. On top of that, I strongly recommend keeping your bookshelves updated; you may otherwise end up with a recommendation for a book that you have already read.

I am in, i would go for super heroes yay .....

I am in...Hooray for heroes! I wish there had been one in Aurora, CO last night to prevent the shootings. So sad!

Just an FYI for picks...I'm out of town from 7/28 until 7/31, so my pickee will recieve their picks August 1.

Hmmmm.... Batman, Spiderman ehhh. Not interested. Now give me some Thor and a side of Captain America I could be down with that.

I am going to go with a Nay for overall.

I think I'm "yay" for super heroes! The help is always welcome when fighting the bad guys.

Well every now and then I like a super hero movie but not all the time. So I will say "Nay" to super heros.

For the most part I think I prefer a more "real" hero rather than a super hero (although there are definitely exceptions to that rule!) so I'll go with Nay.

That is so horrible. We live not to far from the theater. I am so glad my hubby wasn't in that big of a hurry to see it, that he wasn't there last night.

Thank goodness he wasn't in a rush to see it! My teen boys sometimes go to the midnight opening of a big movie. So horrifying and tragic- really no words.

PIFM Rules

Super Heroes!

The theme for this month's PIFM is superheroes. Love 'em or hate 'em, we are surrounded by superhero franchises which give us some awesome movies (and drooling-hot heroes :P)

Please make to select at least 4 books off your pickee's TBR.

1. Superman: The first big comic book superhero who spawned many more! Recommend a classic or a book from a genre new to your pickee.

2. Green Lantern: Recommend a book from their TBR that's next in series or from author they've enjoyed.

3. Batman: Dark brooding superhero - WIN! And the superhero without any true superpowers - just brains! Recommend a book with a brainy lead or a book from their TBR that you loved.

4. Wolverine: (Mutant superhero anti-hero; favorite mutant from X-men) Recommend a book with an anti-hero or a book with animals in it (or on the cover!) or a book with a hero over 40 years.

5. The Hulk: (Superhero who transforms when angry or emotional)Recommend an emotional or an intense book.

6. Wonder Woman: (World's most well-known female superhero!) Recommend a book with a strong (and I mean, really strong) kick-ass, female lead.

7. Thor:(Norse god superhero acted by the super hot Chris Hemsworth ;)) Recommend a book with a steamy cover.

BUDDY READS:

Please Note: The buddy read recommendations are NOT optional. If you cannot do the buddy read, you must still recommend these, just let the person you are picking from that you won't be able to do read with them.

8. Spider-man: The most relatable superhero with the famous line: "with great power there must also come great responsibility". Recommend a book from their TBR that you are itching to read. Bonus points if the main character is a geek.

9. Captain America: Select a historical book or a feel-good romance.

I was so upset when the proposed Wonder Woman series was canned before the pilot even aired a year ago. She was my hero growing up. Best halloween costume ever! My step-mom sewed it for me in grade school.

I'm going to say nay. I have fun watching the movies once... But I never rush out to buy them.

I'm in. I dislike the super simple good vs. evil plot that seems to drive most super hero stories. There are some exceptions but I am going to say NAY.
