Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments I am a BIG action/thriller lover, so anybody have any recommendations for YA or teen books that kept you at the edge of your seat the entire time? Lay some suggestions on me, people! :-)

Oh, and I'd prefer no swearing in the books, or at least a heads up of how much is in the book.

Um... Have you read the Hunger Games + sequels?

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

oooh! Hunger Games rox! :)

Also, try:

Legend by Marie Lu

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Uglies by Scott Westerfield is also really good too

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Ditto!

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not sure if this falls under the action catefory, but have you read - The Mortal Instruments series?

message 7: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Innocent Lamb -- Yes I have! Gobbled those up quick! Loved the first one, but wasn't so crazy about the other two. Good action reads, tho!

As for The Mortal Instruments series, no I haven't heard about them. What kind of genre are they?

Brenna - I've seen Legend around. Haven't read too many reviews on it yet, but I'll put it on my wishlist! Thanks for the recommendation!

Aley - Never heard of Uglies by Scott Westerfield. I'll look it up!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

The first book in the Mortal Instruments series is City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare .

message 9: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Okay, cool! What genre would you label this under? Is the plot fast-paced? Is there suspense? Or is it more romance?

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

It's action-y... I read this a while back and from what I remember, there was more action than romance. Although there is some romance in the book.

However, I do know that there is a lot of action in the other books in the series.

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Okay, thanks for the recommendation! I've seen this series at WalMart, whenever I browse the shelves. Seems like a neat series!

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Thanks for the recommendation, Jay! I just read the synopsis, and it sounds good!!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Also Starters is really good! But I'm only page 100. :)
Starters (Starters and Enders, #1) by Lissa Price

message 15: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Brenna, whoa, that synopsis sounds pretty crazy! That'd be so weird to wake up as someone else! Very interesting storyplot! I hope you like it--I'll be looking for your review to see how you liked it :-)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Kat - Wow, what a list!! Thanks! I've got Legend on my wish list. I keep hearing great things about it! And I've already bought Divergent, it's waiting oh so (not) patiently in my TBR pile. Can't wait to get into that one! I'm not a big fan of vampires or ghosts--call me weird, the story idea just doesn't appeal to me very much. But I'll keep those titles in mind should I ever want to venture outside my normal genres. :-)

Jay - hmm, that book looks interesting! I like these new dystopian books with hi-tech toys in them! ;-)

Legend and Divergent are fantastic, and I myself usually really avoid books about ghosts or vampires or anything particularly unrealistic, but I found that I enjoyed them.

message 22: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Kat - Yeah, that's kind of the reason I haven't read vampire books. But I might try these, if you enjoyed them. Thanks!!

Corridor by Robin Parrish - FANTASTIC!!!! :D

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Melanie -- Oh yes! I keep hearing you mention it. It is DEFF on my "next to purchase" list ;-)

I hope you love it when you read it! It's one of my favorite books and I'm currently rereading it (which I hardly ever do)... I love it that much! :)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Melanie - Yeah, I noticed that. Awesome!

Liked that book too!

message 33: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Wow, so many great books Jay! Thanks! I definitely like that cover for The Angel Experiment!

No, I haven't read that one yet Brenna. Does it have good action in it? Suspense?

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

YES!!!! It is sooo good!! :D

message 35: by Abby (new)

Abby | 8 comments Jay wrote: "The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson"

When I first read the Maximum Ride series, I was in love. Once I was finished, though, I discovered that I couldn't bring myself to pore over them, like I do with my favorite books. I found the plot too repetitive, and now that the newest book is out, I'm hesitant to try it.

Abby | 8 comments Katie wrote: "Kat - Yeah, that's kind of the reason I haven't read vampire books. But I might try these, if you enjoyed them. Thanks!!"

They really were good reads. The Immortal Rules went beyond the superficiality of most vampire-based books and gave you a look into the life of a monster who despises what it has become and fights the urge to feed. I thought it was compelling and really interesting. Definitely not Twilight.

message 37: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Thanks for your input, Kat! I like books with a different approach on popular topics :-)

message 39: by James (new)

James (theadventurousbookreader) Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, #1) by Anthony Horowitz The frist book of the series. The book will get you hooked once you get to the supenseful parts.

The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan The first book of the series too. Another good series from the author of Percy Jackson.

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan A great fun series that is great for fun bookks that involves adventures.

message 40: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiemccurdy) | 13 comments Thanks for the recommendations Alecia, Jay, and James! I've only heard of Lies Beneath before, but will look into the rest. :-)
