Hide and Seek question

I agree that Ethan killed Sutton. It's kind of obvious when you consider that in this series some "random" guy who barely knew Sutton was able to tell that Sutton wasn't Sutton, yet her family members and friends were unable to tell... this in itself makes no sense. Thayer also identified the driver of the car as having brown hair which matches Ethan. Ethan also conveniantely lives right across the street from the canyon and was seen outside his house by Sutton after Thayer is hit by the car - so he really has no alibi.

It is so painfully obvious for sooo many reasons.

1) Mental-health crazy, like someone else said. They even had a file on it.

2)Recognizes Emma as Emma her first night there... (Not the least bit suspicious, Emma?) And frequently mentions stuff about Sutton that nobody normal would have remembered, almost as if (shocker!) he were stalking her.

3) Manipulates Emma (stupid, silly, blindly loving girl) into not saying anything. Goes along with wild suspects: Sutton's best friends, Sutton's sister, Sutton's DAD... Emma does tell him everything, after all, so he can keep her in check pretty easily without her becoming suspicious.

4) Killer mentioned as having broad shoulders, like Ethan.

5) Killer is a smoker, Ethan is a smoker

6) Ethan conveniently lives right by Sabino Canyon, and in one of Sutton's ghostly memories is described as "sitting out on his porch, SMOKING..." (Hello, red flag much?!?)

7) EXTREME JEALOUSY PROBLEMS. Major. Getting in fights over simple glances... it's really hard not to believe that he could run Sutton's boyfriend down.

8) (relating back to number one) In book 5, Emma tells Nisha at a party about Ethan's file. In the next few pages, Nisha acts weird when she brings up Ethan...(and her father works in the PSYCH WARD...) And in the last few pages she calls Emma-as-Sutton frequently. Last page, she winds up dead in her pool. My guess: after Emma told her, she went and secretly looked Ethan up...found out just exactly what was really wrong with him, as did Ethan, and frantically she called Emma, but Ethan killed her somehow before she picked up. I wouldn't put it past him, if he ran down Thayer and killed Sutton.

I could go on forever, but to sum it up, the person who did it is always the person we expect the least. And that, in this case, is Ethan. Besides, he has no alibi, medical problems and rage ones at that, and a rock hard solid motive.

Personally I'm hoping that Garett did it (Where on Earth was he the night of Sutton's murder?) but it's a long shot... a really long one, or that someone else did it. If not, I'm rooting for the Emma/Thayer thing. Or maybe Mr. Chamberlain? Relate to the comments on Cookie's answer to see what I'm getting at.

PS Sutton's not in a coma anywhere: 1) She is "stronger" by Sabino, which is where she died, and 2) It says in the description for the next book that her body shows up there.

Glad the next book is the last, to be honest.

since the first book, I been thinking Ethan, I don't remember all the details about how I suspected him I just kind of have this feeling. I started thinking about if Sutton was even Dead she just missing or she a Jane doe in a Hospital somewhere.

:( I pushed myself to read all of these and now I just spoiled it for myself. :'(

I am not sure who killed Sutton. It is possible that Ethan is the killer. There are some scenes in the previous books that he is not mentally stable. So, he may be the killer. As in the book , I too agree that whoever has killed Sutton will surely blow our minds. It will be least expected.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!! Okay I just finished reading it. Drumroll please... Ethan Laundry killed Sutton Merecer! He was crazy! He was in love with Sutton but Sutton loved Thayer. Ethan found out about Emma and was stalking her and he told Sutton he was going to bring Emma to her but Sutton just told him to get lost. Ethan started to like try and kiss her but she broke away and started to run she slipped off the canyon and broke her leg then Ethan took a big sharp rock and smashed her head. He also killed Nisha because Nisha read Ethan's psych folder or whatever it's called and she was about to tell Emma what it said. It was about how when Ethan was little like 11 or 12 he choked his neighbor and killed her because he saw her playing with another boy and "she was only supposed to have one bestfriend" Ethan's effin crazy! But they like found Suttons body in Sabino Canyon and then officer Quinlyn found out Emma wasn't really sutton because Emma had fillings in her teeth but sutton never did. So everyone thought Emma killed Sutton even Suttons parents and friends. It was such a good ending though! I always knew Ethan did it!

IT"S ETHAN! WHY? Because he in the fifth book he shows up late "because of his mother". But does anyone else find it suspicious that Nina is mysteriously murdered at the same time?

oooh it could also be Ethan because I think in the first book when Emma couldnt take being Sutton anymore, she tried to run away and asked Ethan to take her to the train station, but he started driving somewhere else fast and some place that was deserted. He tried to persuade her to tell him what was wrong, and when he apparently found out about the Emma and Sutton thing, he told her she could not go away.

This is just a thought I had.
Not sure if it accurate though, I have read the book a while ago.

There's something fishy about Ethan but I don't really think he would kill Sutton. The killer might be someone we least suspected.

It's Ethan it's Ethan it's Ethan. Has anyone read the latest book? He's crazy. Like, medical record crazy. Oops, spoiler. Except I think it was kind of pretty obvious that he's crazy. I really don't like Ethan. Or the lying game. It's like a bad addiction.

I also think it was Ethan for 2 reasons: first, how could he know that Emma was not Sutton when not even her own mother noticed, and supposedly he had nothing to do with her. Second, he is always leading her to the wrong clues, not to mention he is manipulating her to say nothing about the murder, by making her believe that if she tells anyone else, everyone is going to think she's guilty.

I think that Ethan killed Sutton and is "helping" Emma solve her murder so that she doesn't suspect him and he can get away with it

I think it was (if she's really dead) Becky because Sutton wouldn't go up to meet her mother because of this Becky gets furious and runs her over! OR: Becky gets furious and is driving up to meet Sutton in a rage and hits her. Then she takes her to a hospital out of town because she doesn't want the parents to find out. Then she lures Emma into coming into Arizona and then Sutton somehow gets a connection with her sister. Becky wanted Sutton and Emma to meet so she brought Emma to take Suttons place just until Sutton was out of her coma then she would have them meet and explain everything. Becky was the only one that knew about Sutton having a twin sister so thats how she knew how to get Emma in Arizona.
Everyone says it's Ethan but I just don't know how because I can't think of a motive but everyone is having a good point of how it could be Ethan...

Ethan. Cause it's always the person you suspect the least. Duuuh.

I think (hoping) She's still alive.. and is unconcious somewhere.. and is somehow mind connecting with Emma!

I think Ethan and nisha might be working together,

For people who have read the book : (view spoiler)[ I don't think Becky killed Sutton. At the end of every single book, there is always a twist of evidence that points towards a certain person, which has always been proved wrong. So what are the odds that this time, it'll be right? (hide spoiler)] Personally, I think Sutton's death was orchestrated by a looooot of people all working together.

I think Ethan killed Sutton as well. He was so easily conviced that Emma was not Sutton. He always agrees to quickly to different absurd suspects (like HER FATHER) he is just very suspicous.
