Cherie (cheriereads) This folder is just for you, the members! Feel free to create your own thread to keep track of your challenges, to chat or anything else you like. As long as you keep it clean (at least mostly) and aren't posting any challenges, anything goes.

How to Create a Thread
1. Click on the Members Corner link. It's right above this post. It will bring up the Members Corner folder along with a list of the threads currently in the folder.
2. Click on "New Topic." It's in small lettering directly to the left of the group's avatar. This will bring up a new blank thread.
3. Pick a name for your thread. Many people use their name or something like "Cherie's Challenges" but that's not set in stone. Feel free to be creative.
4. If your thread is for general chat about a specific book or author you can enter it in the appropriate box (This topic is about_____).
5. Enter the body of your post in the large box under "comment."
6. Click "Post."

That's it! You've just created your own thread! From here on out you can add more posts to your thread whenever you like.

Let me know if you need anything clarified and I will do my best. :)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 123 comments Cherie could you post instructions on how to create a thread for those of us who have never done this.

message 3: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Absolutely. Great idea Adele! I'll write it up and then edit my original post above. Thanks for the suggestion.

Gennesse | 18 comments How to I do the links on these? The ones that everyone puts at beginning of post?

message 5: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) Do you mean the links to your challenges?

message 6: by Gennesse (new)

Gennesse | 18 comments Yeah, sorry I couldn't think of a better way to explain it.

message 7: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) No problem :)

First, to create a link you type:

<_a href="your web address here">Your text here<_/a_>

Remove all of the underscores. Leave all of the other characters including the quotation marks.

You'll notice that there's a timestamp on each post. That timestamp is actually a link to the individual post. Right click on the timestamp of the post you want to link to and then click "copy link address." Now paste that where it says "your web address here." Then type what you want your link to say in the "your text here" section.

For example, if I want to link to your last post (message 6) I would type:

<_a href="http://wwwgoodreads./topic/show/98765... _">Gennesse - Message 6<_/a_>

and (after removing the underscores) it would look like:
Gennesse - Message 6

I hope that makes sense. If you have any other questions I'll do my best to clarify. :)

Adele Symonds (adelesymonds) | 123 comments I created a thread for my scc challenges called Adele's Challenges and it was there for 2 days and now it has gone, what happened?

message 9: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (cheriereads) It's still there, it just got bumped down. The home page only shows the top 5 threads and there are 7 in the folder. You can click on the folder name and it will bring up the entire list.

That goes for the challenge folders, too! There may be challenges you haven't seen yet because they're not on the front page.
