"“You think the earth is a tub of yoghurt?”
“It ferments, it thickens and although it is solid now, it can never forget that it was once liquid. It’s roiling inside. There’s water underneath, churning. There are cycles in nature. "I strongly suspect you wrote it in this book."
He broke out into that goofy smile. "And you say we don't know each other.”

“Why is it that everything I eat when I’m with you is so delicious?’ I laughed. ‘Could it be that you’re satisfying hunger and lust at the same time?”

“Without pain, how could we know joy?' This is an old argument in the field of thinking about suffering and its stupidity and lack of sophistication could be plumbed for centuries but suffice it to say that the existence of broccoli does not, in any way, affect the taste of chocolate.”
