This book really kept my interest. The author had very good prose and included interesting characters. The action was bloody and believable. You felt the pain and torture for people. I felt myself rooting for our main protagonist, Barshad, even though he probably isn't the most likable character on paper. I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves cool magic systems, dragons, adventure, court drama between kings and queens and impressive action. 4/5 stars
