"Fascinatingly stupid. Does he know that China exists and has existed? Does this guy really think that nowhere on Earth were there agricultural civilizations until some revolution in Western Europe in 1725?

Does anyone have the cliff notes of this book? I feel like the aliens and the reptile men and everything should be making an appearance soon.

The writing is disorganized..."

"This book is a great companion to one I just read, Wild Faith by Talia Levin. Since I don't know anything about the history of Christianity or what the different denominations believe, this is really scratching that itch for me. But also... I wish the thing that makes the itching just didn't exist in my life or in our country or in the world lol *endless screaming*" Aug 09, 2025 10:27AM

Emily Brontë
“I wish I were a girl again, half-savage and hardy, and free.”
Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights

Emil M. Cioran
“It is not worth the bother of killing yourself, since you always kill yourself too late.”
Emil Cioran, The Trouble With Being Born

Jean-Paul Sartre
“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”
Jean-Paul Sartre

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
“But what distressed him greatly was not having another hermit there to confess him and to receive consolation from; and so he solaced himself with pacing up and down the little meadow, and writing and carving on the bark of trees and on the fine sand a multitude of verses all in harmony with his sadness”
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote

Carlos Ruiz Zafón
“Our world will not die as the result of the bomb, as the papers say, it will die of laughter, of banality, or making a joke of everything, and a lousy joke at that.”
Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Shadow of the Wind
