Some of it isn't real about Greek mythology but most books are fun to read if you add in some really cool fiction parts in them. I think the book was intended for teenagers or students wanting to learn about history. One way that the Sea of Monsters illistrates some good action is at the very beggining when Percy and his friend Tyson are playing dodge ball. Percy doesn't do that good but his friend tyson is six feet tall and really big. When the other team turns into monsters shooting fireballs at them, that is when Percy finds out Tyson is actually a cyclops."Tyson, did that ball have flames coming out of it?" "Uhh, I think so." "I don't want to play anymore." I like this because Rick also includes some humor in the action. Tyson kills the monsters by hucking the fireballs right back at them but even harder. This is also a very good way to catch the readers attention early. If this book didn't have the intense action at the begining, I probably wouldn't of read the whole book. The other reason why I liked it is because of how educational it was about Greek mythology. It tells you who the Gods are and what they do and kind of what they would be if they were alive. Like Zeus for example, he is the god of gods and he controls the sky. If you could control the sky and were the god of gods, how would you act? Well, sense it is Zeus, you would act like you own everything and everyone and acts stuck up and cocky. "You half blood, dare ask of such a task of me against my own brother. How dare you even think of such a thing." This is what Zeus said when Percy asked him if he could help him on his quest. I didn't have anything bad really to say about this book, but just like the first Percy Jackson book, it can get a bit confusing if you haven't fully understood the first book and basic mythology.
Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is a fantastic book for most students and teenagers if they enjoy greek mythology. I liked it because of how the author describes the action and how you can learn in such a great way. There were barely any negative qualities about the book, only if you didn't read the first book. ...more "
