"At the same time, reading this shit is miserable. Fascinating ideas; fucking odious writing—and it's not much better in French, from what my lingering grasp on the language can parse. Too bad he couldn't articulate himself better, 'cus the man had some important things to say." Aug 09, 2025 08:27AM

"Well, I can say that reading the Eschaton scene while listening to disk 1 of "Batsu Sansei Tenyo: Natsu no hi ni baku wa hamabe de yume miru" is just about one of the most sublime experiences I've had v/a/v art in a *long* time. Once of those moments of inexplicable synchronicity—it just all worked. I never want to be done with this book, if I'm being honest. I'm savoring savoring it." Aug 09, 2025 08:19AM

Knut Hamsun
“I love three things, I then say. I love a dream of love I once had, I love you, and I love this patch of earth.

And which do you love best?

The dream.”
Knut Hamsun, Pan

Italo Calvino
“Arriving at each new city, the traveler finds again a past of his that he did not know he had: the foreignness of what you no longer are or no longer possess lies in wait for you in foreign, unpossessed places.”
Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities

André Gide
“Envying another man's happiness is madness; you wouldn't know what to do with it if you had it.”
André Gide, The Immoralist

Jean Baudrillard
“Today abstraction is no longer that of the map, the double, the mirror, or the concept. Simulation is no longer that of a territory, a referential being or substance. It is the generation by models of a real without origin or reality: A hyperreal. The territory no longer precedes the map, nor does it survive it. It is nevertheless the map that precedes the territory - precession of simulacra - that engenders the territory.”
Jean Baudrillard, Simulacra and Simulation

André Gide
“You have to let other people be right' was his answer to their insults. 'It consoles them for not being anything else.”
André Gide, The Immoralist
