After rereading a couple of amazing and dense masterpieces, I’m in the mood for some popcorn. This was selected by the SFF Book Club so I’m curious to see how enjoyable it is. Aside from one of my last two rereads, I haven’t read one of the monthly selections in some time.

I struggled mightily with this and Barnes's other books. Great concept and atmosphere but the execution left a *lot* to be desired.

Yeah. I’m so weary of writers signposting and repeating exposition and getting so granular about every little internal quirk. Leaving so little to the imagination. She does have a knack for thinking up evocative locations and situations, but the rest is irritating.
