Reading a book--even one I really enjoyed--three times in six years is too much.* I might take another crack at it when Alecto is announced, depending on how far in the future that ends up being.
* This also happened with Hogfather, which was going to be an annual read until I started hating the idea of reading it yet again. No big surprise, then.

The part where things are hashed out in the pool provided more of the information "for the notebook" than anything else in this second read-through. Like the first time though, it felt like a rather abrupt development for that relationship. On to the endgame!

I'm not sure I'm getting enough clues to justify an entire reread, and I've zoned out through enough of it (action scenes, the murders and discussions surrounding them) to suspect I've probably missed one or two. But as long as I'm this far...

"Gideon hauled again at the hatch, as though offering up the universe's most useless act might endear her to the physics of a locked door."

Rereading this book with an eye to clues sown to be reaped in Harrow's book is possibly a fool's errand, since prying little details out of the background scenery of a story is not my strength. Maybe some info will sink in without my noticing... or maybe I'll have to let go of my pride and use TVTropes. It's all about appreciating _Nona_ later, though I'm enjoying it in its own right. The audio narration is great. :)

I've listened to the first couple of chapters of this and the style's taking a little more getting used to than the print version. I think it's because my eyes can just skim over unfamiliar words and guess their meaning on the fly when eye-reading, and I don't have the knack of whatever the equivalent is in an audiobook yet.

There's a certain something about a book where a line like "I can't bear it. It's just such crap," can bring a tear to my eye.

Of all the things to make it through worried-about-my-country-24-7 fog, this is it? I'm also loving it despite having been spoiled on the ending and a lot of its major plot beats, which is very unusual for me. No questions, I'm just grateful.

The cast is large and I'm having trouble telling some of them apart. Other than that, I'm enjoying this a lot, more than I expected to after reading friends' reviews.
