So this is a romance novel, "fantasy" is here just to fill pages, there's no cohesive world-building, there's no atmosphere, nothing exists outside of her magic dragon school. Dragons sound exactly like other teenagers, for a 20+ year olds who are dying every other day every character just strangely nonchalant about anything. There's no weight to anything. The heroine and her sexy guy have plot armor..[...]

This half-baked premise pretending to be a full fledged fantasy world and a lot of lusting over the buff sexy guy with a scar on his face who's always looking at our heroine with a lot of sexiness in his eyes and his hands are always folded in front of him. 260 pages of this, just have sex already, that's the only reason people are reading this at this point, right? And please don't tell me you're in for the dragons

nastya ... and nobody else have personality, their names are interchangeable. And they die and I am confused who were they

Ok so as a romance novel it all is about frustrating desire. As Anne Carson said:
"There's something paradoxical in the relations between a novelist and his lovers. As a writer he knows the story must end and wants it to end. So, too, as readers we know the novel must end and want it to end. "But not yet!" say the readers to the writer. "But not yet!" says the writer to his hero and heroine. "But not yet!" says the beloved to the lover. And so the reach of desire continues."

So what does this author do? She delays. Ina masterful hands there would be careful reasons that separate our lovers. But here nothing makes sense.
What separates them : his father killed her brother, but this really doesn't matter, she barely thinks about her brother, yet the guy saved her countless of times. Also there was something about Xaden wanting to kill her but again, he keeps protecting her all the time. Oh, she has this childhood friend who grew up into a sexy man, but she discovered that she doesn't want him hundreds of pages ago.
So what we are left with are the same two scenes about how they can't be together because of reasons and them passionately kissing and then stopping it because "I mustn't!"

Marquise Someone said I don't care enough to rant, and then ranted away. 🤣

Carry on, I have popcorn. *munches happily*

Nataliya Sounds like a ridiculous YA story.

Remember Addie laRue? That was a masterpiece in comparison

I didn’t want to, but, Marquise, this book makes me dumber! And angry! After I bestow 1 star on this I need to go back and bump up every other 1 star book
