What's your number? (I've read 14) And who is this Elena Ferrante!? (she's the top spot) I might have to find out...

Jayson My number is 1, but I've got four more on my shelf that I've not read yet 🤷‍♂️

Sam Quixote What's the 1 and is Elena Ferrante among the 4?

Jayson The 1 is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I've actually read it twice, but I think it still just counts as 1.

Elena Ferrante is not among the 4, like you I've never heard of her.

The four on my shelf are Wolf Hall, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Persepolis and Bring Up the Bodies.

Sam Quixote Kavalier and Clay is that Golden Age of Comics novel isn't it? I like the idea of it but I don't click with Chabon's prose so I'll never make it through something that long.

Marjane Satrapi is a brilliant cartoonist - I think you'll really enjoy Persepolis whenever you get around to it.

Jayson Yes, as far as I know, Kavalier & Clay is about a Golden Age creative duo. I've read nearly all of Chabon's books, fiction and non-fiction. He's a writer I want to like but, like you said, his prose just kills me. The book's been collecting dust on my shelf for over a decade.
