Stephen Booth There is a book #19, but it's a standalone called 'Drowned Lives', and not part of the Cooper & Fry series. Hope that helps!
Stephen Booth I'm sure it is, Marna! In fact, Fairholmes visitor centre does appear in 'Secrets of Death', when a gruesome discovery is made there, and it's also mentioned in my Ben Cooper novella 'Claws'. There's scope for more, though. :)
Stephen Booth Hi, Seamus. Probably in the summer, when there are lots of other visitors. Safety in numbers, you know... :) And it's great to hear you enjoyed the book (big Led Zep fan here too, by the way). I hope I've tempted you to try a bit more crime!
Stephen Booth Hi, Elaine. Many thanks! Yes, I do spend a lot of time in the places I'm writing about - in fact, it's often being in the place that inspires ideas for the story, because I notice small details. It's one of the things I like most about what I do, being able to spend so much time wandering about in the Peak District and calling it 'work'. :) Shirebrook was very interesting to write about too. I remember it when it was a mining community, so the changes I found there were fascinating. I'm glad you enjoyed 'Dead in the Dark'. Stephen
Stephen Booth Hi, Bev. Sorry, I seem to have missed your question! I try to make my books as contemporary as I can for the year they're published, so they tend to reflect what's happening at the time. The outsourcing of forensics and the closure of police stations in Derbyshire was obviously something of concern to police officers (and therefore my fictional characters), along with the merger of functions such as murder investigation into regional units. So I wouldn't call it 'my world view' - I'm trying to capture what my characters would be talking about. The loss of local newspapers is a personal concern for me, because that was my job before I started writing the novels and I think it's very sad to see them go. I hope that helps! Stephen
Stephen Booth Hi, Esther. Book 18 'Fall Down Dead' will be published in the UK in August 2018. I hope that helps! Stephen
