Cornelia Funke I am very busy building a place here where young artists from all over the world come and work together, Whitney. And I want to get more involved with environmentalists and support their efforts. So sadly I am not sure yet whether I will have time for a tour. But.......if you ever get to Tuscany let me know and maybe you can drop by and see what we do here!
Cornelia Funke At the moment two British screen writers are pitching a TV series for Reckless Hima, and there are few German productions in development. But no Ink-movie:) A friend of mine intends to pitch Inkworld for a TV series, but one never knows with that world...I prefer to write books:) And I definitely didn't like the Dragonrider movie!
Cornelia Funke His first name is Nyame, Anna. And Dustfinger's is Nardo. They always liked that their first names start with the same letter
Cornelia Funke I am working on it Gabriele:) I hope I'll finsih my the end of the year but then it needs to be translated, illustrated, bound and delivered....I fear autumn 2023 is realistic! Books devour time!:)
Cornelia Funke I did, Arax. I actually asked him and he did tell me, but I am not sure whether it is the one he was born with. He can be quite secretive:) I wrote it down in one of my notebooks and then I forgot because for me he is always just Dustfinger. But I will use it in The Color of Revenge so you'll find out too!
best from Volterra! Cornelia
Cornelia Funke I don't understand the question? I think the book answers it?
Cornelia Funke Yes, of course it will be published in English as well!:) I am currently working on it and the Germans may have to wait until 2023 as well, as I don't expect to finish the book before summer 22.
Cornelia Funke I actually agree, Sparrow. The title was a suggestion of my British publisher and I had exactly the doubts you mention. But I couldn't come up with a title we all loved (or that I was totally convinced of myself) so I agreed to the curse. For me it works in so far as there is always a possible factor of doom connected to the appearance of the Aurelia. We actually used the same title in German and although I agree it is not ideal..... sometimes a book gives itself a name and we can't find another. I am fine with this one by now:)
Cornelia Funke sorry Shallan, I only saw these questions now! Don't count words when you write. Stories don't like to be managed like bank accounts! Walk into the labyrinth of the story you chose and don't turn around when it tries to discourage you with its hedges and traps. Keep walking until the heartbeat of your story gets so loud that you are lost and won't ever give up on it until you learned about all its secrets. Then make your way back and polish the treasure you found over and over again, until you can show it to others:)
Cornelia Funke :)))) I think life is such a mystery itself that everything we write is influenced by it. Lately I find places I live in to inspire many stories- the places of our lives are for me what shapes us and our stories
Cornelia Funke Shallan, so sorry! I only just saw this question - a year delayed! Don't make too many rules for yourself. Just set a time you send on potting, thinking, researching and writing or editing. In my experience you need at least 3 hours to get deep into a story. As for jumping around - o yes, that is the deepest trap you can fall into, being charmed by your own ideas and walking astray. Stories like to distract you that way to hide their secrets:) put those new ideas into another notebook - one for EACH distinct story! - and then grow the one you are working on. There will be time for the others once the other one has roots and blooms:)
Cornelia Funke Five, Laurel:) At least that's what Ithink now. But stories have their own will. So let's see!:)
