Dear Cornelia, I am curious, what made you choose the title Aurelia "Curse" for the third book? Idk why I keep thinking about it, but I can't help but feel that it doesn't really match what's described in the book. Was it really a curse? Felt more like anger, or revenge? It makes it sound as if they have to battle against a curse that's already happened.

I actually agree, Sparrow. The title was a suggestion of my British publisher and I had exactly the doubts you mention. But I couldn't come up with a title we all loved (or that I was totally convinced of myself) so I agreed to the curse. For me it works in so far as there is always a possible factor of doom connected to the appearance of the Aurelia. We actually used the same title in German and although I agree it is not ideal..... sometimes a book gives itself a name and we can't find another. I am fine with this one by now:)

Cornelia Funke:
Hi Cornelia. I found out about your books after I saw the movie and learned that it was indeed based on a book (which the best movies are ;-)). I read Inkheart a couple times, and wanted to know more about Mo and Meggie's adventures with the Inkworld and was excited when I discovered it was the first in a trilogy. My question for you is where did you get the inspiration for the world and characters (Dustfinger Basta)?

May I just say that it is an honor to be writing to you. I've been a fan since I picked up Inkheart back in the seventh grade. Your books are literally magic spun by gold. I was looking through my copy of Inkheart and on page 143, where Mo was talking about the little glass man appearing and the mailman disappearing, and that got me thinking. I know the mailman is not important, but whatever happened to him?
