The setting in AoS is deliberately ambiguous - despite the Americanisms/Britishisms present in the story. It's not really meant to have a concrete setting, I wanted the story to feel like it could take place anywhere in the global north. So to answer your question, it isn't set in the UK nor is it set in the US (despite the references).

I'm always working on something, but at the moment I'm not working on anything set in the same setting/universe as AoS - but never say never

I am a very boring tea drinker - despite loving tea. I only really drink Black tea or green tea. I need to venture out more!

When you're ready for a tea adventure, highly recc Lapsang Souchong. I feel like I'm drinking with the ancestors, feeling a lot of reverence, and getting really grounded with this tea. Calabash Tea in Washington, DC, USA has a great selection and wide variety. I don't work there and I don't own it. It's owned by black female-identified beings and I've enjoyed this shop for 3+ years.

Once I get an idea I usually try to brainstorm as much as I can right away. If the idea feels like it has a lot I can work with I might start outlining a full story. If after brainstorming the idea still doesn't feel like there are enough parts to make up a story, I usually sit on it for a while and let it marinate until enough pieces come together. Almost every idea I have is used in some way in the stories I write, just not always in the way I first anticipated using them.

There are so many authors I really admire, but someone i'd love to write something with is Adiba Jaigirdar...

I take a break from writing, go back to brainstorming or just go to sleep. I have found that writer's block sometimes comes about due to exhaustion.
