Marie asked Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé:

Hello! So excited to read your book. How did you know which story ideas you wanted to make into a full-blown book? Or how did you force yourself to sit down and choose one to flesh out fully?

Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé Once I get an idea I usually try to brainstorm as much as I can right away. If the idea feels like it has a lot I can work with I might start outlining a full story. If after brainstorming the idea still doesn't feel like there are enough parts to make up a story, I usually sit on it for a while and let it marinate until enough pieces come together. Almost every idea I have is used in some way in the stories I write, just not always in the way I first anticipated using them.
