I'm working on a thriller right now. Here's the blurb:
When Monsters Play with Fire
Sky Miller is on a collision course with her secret and tragic past. But right now, everything is perfect with her handsome husband, Seth, and their six-year-old son, Benny. That is, until Benny comes down with a life-threatening illness and Sky learns Seth has squandered their savings on his failing start-up company. Without options, and refusing to lose another child, Sky makes a deal with a mysterious investor to save Seth’s company and get Benny the healthcare he needs.
While Seth travels, Sky is left to take care of things at home, which leads to a friendship with Dominic, the investor. When her house catches fire, he offers Sky and her son a place to say—an offer that has serious consequences. Sky's past is catching up with her, and things grow even more complicated when her relationship with the investor changes.
Worried that her deepest secrets will be revealed, Sky must fight to save her son's life and the home she has created with Seth.

The best thing I did when I started writing was find a writer's group. Peer critiques are the most valuable tool a writer can have. It's not always easy hearing what's not working on your piece, but if you are willing to listen and revise, your writing becomes stronger--which is what all writers should be striving for. And when you do get critiqued, try your best to be open-minded to what is being said and not defensive. Writers only want to help other writers be their very best.

The best thing about being a writer is having the ability to entertain and/or educate people through my writing. I love the challenge of creating a story that not only keeps the reader engaged from the first to last page but also stays with them long after they close the book.
