Jan Steele grew up in the burbs of Chicago and after thirty-two years of shoveling snow, moved to San Diego with her husband and children. She has taught everything from Kindergarten through high school but found her passion for writing years later while living as an expat in Asia for four years. She is a contributing author of Chicken Soup for the Soul, Miracles and More (2018), an MFA graduate at UC Riverside, and shares a blog with her sister-in-law, www.killingjunecleaver.blogspot.com. It's not always easy hearing what's not working on your piece, but if you are willing to listen and revise, your writing becomes stronger--which is what all writers should be striving for. And when you do get critiqued, try your best to be open-minded to what is being said and not defensive. Writers only want to help other writers be their very best.(less)
