Mesu Andrews Hello, Kimberly! Forgive me for the delay. One of the best resources I've found for info about biblical places and the culture of certain eras is: https://www.bibleplaces.com. Besides the beautiful photos, it also comes with reasonably priced resources with commentary and instruction from well-respected scholars of our time. If you'd like to know more about my research, here are a few blog posts from my website: https://mesuandrews.com/potiphars-wif..., https://mesuandrews.com/how-to-resear..., https://mesuandrews.com/favorite-bibl...

Hope that's helpful! Thanks for your question. You can always reach me directly at mesu@mesuandrews.com or through my website contact form. Blessings!
Mesu Andrews Hi there Stacey! So sorry for the delay in answering. I have been busy writing on a couple of projects and haven't been checking this site regularly. Anyway...no you do not need to read Potiphar's Wife to read In Feast or Famine. However, there are many carry over characters that would enhance your enjoyment of IFOF. My publisher is running a special promotion where when you preorder IFOF, you will get the option of getting a free copy of any of my other Waterbrook titles, including Potiphar's Wife! Might be a good option for you...Thanks for being a loyal reader!
Mesu Andrews Hmmm, interesting question! Our house was robbed twice within a year early in our marriage. As far as I know, they never caught the people who did it. I always wished we had some of those sentimental jewelry items back (hubby's high school class ring, etc).
Mesu Andrews Hi Natalie!
I just answered your contact form through email. THE LOST YEARS OF MEHY is a free download that I offer as a gift to those who subscribe to my newsletter. I'm having a "FALL FREEBIE" month in October, or you can subscribe at: http://madmimi.com/signups/d84d4daead..., and then remind me that you'd like to have the MEHY download. Thanks so much for your interest in Mehy's story!
Mesu Andrews Hi Alaina!
I'm so sorry I didn't see your question earlier! Please forgive me!

His Unfathomable Plan was a free download to those who signed up for my newsletter during the year Isaiah's Daughter was a new release, but I'd be happy to send you a link.

You can send your email address to: Amanda@mesuandrews.com and mention this conversation. I'll let my assistant know!

Thanks for asking--and, again, I'm sooooo sorry I didn't see it sooner!
In His Arms With You,
Mesu
Mesu Andrews Hi ClaraBelle!
Aww, thank you so much for that encouragement! Honestly, my favorite book is usually the one I'm writing at any given moment. I get so invested in the research and characters that I fall in love with the story.

Each book has a special place in my heart though because each one had a specific message that felt/feels important to me. Love Amid the Ashes was all about God's love in the midst of suffering. Love's Sacred Song was about the unrelenting passion of a God who never gives up on me. I could tell you a similar something for each of the books--the reason I wrote them--but if you google each of the books, I think you'll find blog interviews I've done that will answer those questions. ;)

Thanks for asking!
Mesu Andrews Hi Abigail! I still love Francine Rivers' REDEEMING LOVE. It was the first Christian fiction I ever read, and there are few books that can top it--because of her stellar writing and because it launched my own writing journey.
Mesu Andrews Ursula, the last woman on earth, stood atop Mount Zion, waiting while the Eternal Judge scanned the Book of Life with His gleaming right hand. His eyes of fire left their searching and turned to penetrate her darkened heart with the silent message she already knew, "I grant your wish. Away from Me for eternity."
Mesu Andrews I pray a lot! LOL! Seriously though, I do pray and read the passages of Scripture that I'm writing about--over and over again. I go back to my research books and look for a twist to the story in history. Some of the best "ah-hah" moments in my books have come from actual facts in historical records. For me, writer's block often signals that my life has become too busy to hear my Creator, and the noise of this world has blocked my creativity. If I get quiet, the Creator nudges me in a direction, and my creativity returns.
Mesu Andrews ISAIAH'S DAUGHTER is about a woman named Hephzibah. She's the wife of the most righteous king of Judah and the mother of the most wicked king of Judah. She watched her son tear down everything her husband built. As a mother of adult children, my heart just broke for her. How could she deal with an adult child that was so destructive--and yet keep her faith in Yahweh? I wanted to explore her life, her emotions, and her eventual victory.
Mesu Andrews The hours I get to spend researching--without feeling guilty about "wasting time" digging into all that history, archaeology, and ancient texts. I've always loved that kind of thing, but now I have an excuse to actually study it.
Mesu Andrews Keep writing! The only way to know if you're a REAL writer is if you experience that moment of discouragement so profound that you vow never to write again--but you just can't stop writing. When I got to the place where I finally gave up on publishing and simply wrote because I NEEDED to write...that's when my writing improved, and an editor noticed.
Mesu Andrews ISAIAH'S DAUGHTER is in its final edit and should be going to typesetting by Nov. '17 (with a scheduled release of Jan. '18). The projects coming up after that are in the works. I should have an announcement about those soon!
Mesu Andrews I need quiet to get inspired. If the world around me is too noisy, my brain gets too noisy to write. That's why the best place/time for me to write is on my back deck porch swing, looking out over the trees and hills of the Appalachian Mountains. Birdsong and my dog's snoring is about the only noise I can handle while developing plot and characters. I go deep into my research and then write for hours. I LOVE IT!
